No, if I've learned one thing growing old is never let pride keep you from asking questions and possibly looking stupid than not asking a remaining so.
That is it. Haven’t been there in probably 15 years. I think it was something ridiculous like 2.99 a person.
Ok, I see what you meant, and agree. Seems like a place where using the phrase African American would be fine...
Are you even being serious right now? Elitism in the frame of this thread is judging someone by the restaurant they chose because its beneath you to chose the same or judging a strangers education level by their differing opinion from yours. Some might call a lack of self awareness as an issue with education level as well. Man this world is screwed up. If you believe the OP is racist. Call it out. But tossing everyone who choses a restaurant into some lower level is elitism. Pure and simple.
Right. We have what many of us think is a wrong. (Coded language being used 8n this way) combated by another wrong. We often judge our right to commit a wrong as "ok" if we are combating another wrong. We all do it. I know.
You should have known that the Leftists here regard talking peoples of other ethnic backgrounds as racist... The low hanging fruit of divide and conquer will always be present in every single Liberal's mind. They think they have the right to judge anything you say... with impunity.
1. Calling someone “white trash” b/c of where they ate is classless and should be out of bounds on here, and does wreak of elitism. 2. BUT more importantly I really don’t understand the point of this whole thread, frankly, and why someone would even feel the need to run here and post that they referred (seemingly proudly) to black people as Canadians in a public restaurant so the black people around them wouldn’t pick up on it. There’s no way that would ever end well, especially with the OP’s history here. And guess what? It didn’t- just another value judgment pissing contest broke out. No wonder we can’t speak to each other or have nice things. Yay team. As someone said upthread, if you want to call someone racist, just say it. No need for all the other insulting generalizations and inflammatory comments.
I certainly code switch. But no, I don't use substitute words for "Black" so I can talk about people's race without people around me knowing. And while I'm not a fan of Golden Corral, I don't know why people are dogging it (or those who eat there). My grandfather used to love that restaurant.
Just for the record there is a Golden Corral in Altamonte Springs near the intersection of 434 & 436. I love the buffet When it is my turn to choose where the family is eating that is always my choice. The grandkids love it too. There is nothing better than the ice cream bar to a 5 year old.
If given a choice between associating with elitists and racists I’ll take the elites every single time. I value education and learning, the humanities and science but I know that those who do don’t always come with a degree. I want to be around people who value the same. It doesn’t matter to me nor where they eat or worship or not. You can be elite and still be a good person. You cannot be a bigot and be a good person. To suggest than rasism = elitism is nuts
You don't know how right you are. Having spent most of my adult life on construction sites I can't tell you how many Mexicans have walked up to me and started speaking spanish. When I inform them I don't speak the language I have had a couple of them point to their skin and say "You look like me".
