I think The Head Ball Coach had the same thing to say about the Gators around 2011-12....... No one in college football felt sorry for us when we were losing..... Every team gave us their best game. It's a tough time wearing a bullseye every week when you are good. Georgia will be going through this at some point in the future...... Hopefully sooner than later. It's just the natural law of sports. No team stays on top forever. GO GATORS!!!!
Old school coaches like Saban, as a rule, have a hard time adjusting to the portal, NIL, and the change of culture in college sports. Saban’s teams have been known for discipline and that doesn’t seem to be the case anymore. Maybe he’s been hanging out with “Neon Deon” too much. I’m not ready to count Nick Saban out but, he is on a much more level playing field with his competition now. Call me daft but, I hope he goes out on his own terms soon and his legacy is not tarnished.
But they are getting paid…what a load of bs. He’s not going to last much longer. The pressure is finally getting to him.
You can be sure Alabama used $$ to build that legacy and get all those players to come to Tuscaloosa.
This was in November 2021 after they lost to TAMU. It’s called deflection as he’s using his players to vent his frustrations on the expectations of the fanbase. I would guess Saban feels a little guilty for the players getting criticized when he makes 100x what they make.
Luke 12:48 For unto whomsoever much is given, of him shall be much required: and to whom men have committed much, of him they will ask the more.
I wouldn't say that. Saban has changed his philosophy many times to keep the program in tune with the rest of the world. It's why he brought on the offensive minds to incorporate the spread when the spread was killing him. He went away from the tried and true running offenses. So he can change here too but the bigger question is, does he want to? He's 70, he's done pretty much everything a college coach can do to be successful. What's another ring when you already have 7? Would it be worth the time he has left to find a way to exploit the NIL? The younger Saban would have gamed it better than anyone.
Again, slightest bit of adversity and the fans are griping. The narrative that Gator fans are extra when it comes to complaining is moronic
I think that was more scripted and rehearsed than off the cuff and from the heart. Not saying he does not mean it, just that he knows what he is doing. If you ever see him showing indifference that is the sign he is done.
This isn't anything Spurrier didn't say not long before he left UF. Spurrier made a specific comment about 10 wins not being enough anymore. Saban just said it a little more angrily. I had a dog once that the more she barked, the angrier she became. That's what he was like by the end of the video.
I was responding to the pressure getting to NS. I thought I deleted my reply when I saw I was beat replying about the date of the interview
