True. I also wonder if the portal has any adverse impact. They have key players across their team who did not start within their program and that has to change the team dynamics IMO. You have a backup player who competed and waited their turn like every great Bama player has been taught to do then a new guy shows up and skips the “line”. Their dependency on Gibbs is a potential example. Just more thoughts.

I’m just trying to give you some advice. If you enjoy questioning the coaches then by all means do that. No problem in asking specific questions and we all do it especially after losses. But in my mind you are comparing Florida to others and it is reducing your enjoyment of the game. In addition, you are worried about the future more than you are attempting to appreciate the moment. Honestly, it sounds like a really unenjoyable way to consume cfb.

    I looked this up

Sallee’s point is understandable, given the roster turnover the Tigers saw this offseason, especially in the trenches on both sides of the football. There are intriguing transfer prospects that should play a major role, but those are far from guarantees.

That’s why he ultimately gives the edge to Napier and the Gators, though he makes it clear that he thinks both coaches will succeed in the long term — even giving Kelly the advantage in that regard.

While Kelly is more likely to have long-term success, Napier is better-positioned to see immediate success this season. He has a more stable foundation and an easier path to at least get the Gators back to relevance in the SEC.

If Richardson does emerge as a bonafide superstar as the offseason momentum indicates, he should be the catalyst for Florida to dictate the style and tempo of most games. Napier was ultra-successful with mobile quarterbacks at Louisiana, including last season with Johnson and dual-threat weapon Levi Lewis. Plus, the schedule sets up relatively well. Kentucky, South Carolina and Missouri — which constitute the beefy middle of the East — will all travel to The Swamp. LSU, on the other hand, has to go to Arkansas, Auburn and Texas A&M.

Luckily, there will be a head-to-head contest and some transitive property opportunities to compare the two. Kelly will square off with Napier in The Swamp, and both the Tigers and the Gators will battle with Florida State and Tennessee in 2022. Both also travel to Texas A&M. But the SEC West is stacked, which will make it challenging for the Tigers to make a decent bowl game this year.

Simply by virtue of having a player like Anthony Richardson, it makes sense why UF may have a higher ceiling in 2022. But with that being said, the Gators have their own roster deficiencies to deal with that rival (and in some cases, exceed) LSU’s.

$$$$$$$ we just joined the game. LSU has been taking top 5 classes for years. We’ve broke into the top 10 a few times. The portal can catch us up quickly if we are lucky. LSU isn’t all that great either. They could have the same record as we have.

I’ll step back and this will be my last post concerning this. It just that I guess I’m expecting more immediate results. Not SEC championships it’s more of player development is where I differ from the rest

That’s normal when you have trouble getting under 85. 85? 85? 85 players don’t play on a team, the dead weight at the bottom of a roster does not affect the two deep very much. With the portal, teams will send a lot of deadweight out each year.

I don't understand either. LSU had a coaching issue (2019 is the exception), not a talent issue. Especially on offense. I'll take the wr room right now if possible. And in a qb folks really slept on..... now you have them peaking at the right time

LSU has 12 seniors on their two deep depth chart, we have 3. Which group of talent would you have rather walked into as a new HC, LSU's or ours? Orgeron recruited well and left talent there. Dan Mullen, not so much.

    Agree with this completely.
LSU also recruited the hell out of the portal this year, something we had some success but nothing like them. From season start to now you can't really argue that their progression hasn't been fairly stellar. Not sure you can say the same for UF.

Gibbs is by far their best offensive player. To tu tu to was a very good portal guy too along with tgat receiver from osu last year. The portal is a way of life for everyone. I doubt we are seein tge decline of Bama just yet but more than likely just a blip in the road. They can’t all be zingers. Defensive coordinator going to wear this one.

Agreed. We’ve got some good pieces but some glaring holes. Defensively I think we are just not a very physical or cerebral team,

In reference to LSU recruiting: Louisiana is a football talent-rich state, not so much as Florida but nevertheless loaded with good football players.
We have in state competition from FSU, Miami and to a lesser degree Central and South Florida. LSU, basically, has Tulane and unlike LSU I understand that they require prospective students to be able to read, write and cipher to be admitted.
Of course, NIL is changing the dynamics of recruiting and all big programs are doing more out of state recruiting now.

And you have to be one or the other. We are bad but there are less assignments completely missed each week . Still a half step behind too often but it’ll get better.

Right now the main difference in talent between the Gators and LSU is they have QB that has mastered their offense to the degree that helps everyone on that team play even better than the sum of their parts.

Tennessee was right up there too when their QB was on... But as you saw once UGA took care of Tennessee's QB then the rest of the team was not enough to get the win... One player made that team greater than the sum of their parts too.

LSU signed 7, that’s SEVEN, DBs in the portal last year besides that fantastic QB. Really impressed with the job Kelly & staff have done.

Go back to Napier's team assessments days after the spring game please. He was more honest than most coaches when he came out and said "we need players, lots of players." I'll give you that Napier isn't Brian Kelly in terms of experience as a head coach, games under his belt or big game experience.
But for today's game and today's players I would much rather have Billy. He's going to grow and learn yes, but I think he has a higher ceiling than Kelly, who under the surface we've all seen, where it doesn't take much for the @sshole BKelly to show his true self.
