E-Bike Sets NYC High-Rise on Fire

    A total of 38 injured, including five firefighters. Apparently the battery just exploded next to an entry door of an apartment on the 20th floor. Firefighters had to perform a "rope rescue" of a woman hanging out of a window. Twenty people evacuated to the building's roof.

    Yeah… this is not from this incident, but a crazy video of an escooter catching on fire while charging…. Ruined this guys Christmas..

    I unplug all charging batteries once charged for any equipment including lawn equipment or even my phone. I'm not against electric vehicles but they charging them in the house seems like a bad idea at the moment. Some will use any instances of electric fires to support their agenda but it is a concern. It's not like ICE vehicles don't burn up as well.

    I’m not concerned about cars but these bikes have a bunch of knock off or ultra cheap lithium batteries with poor circuitry and relatively frequently catch fire. I’d charge them outside which is obviously a problem for condo/high rise dwellers.
