Then he should stop doing dumb things.

Well, for one, most managers in the industry operate in a smarter manner than Musk is, which is how they have actually built companies rather than massively overpaying for one. And Dorsey doesn't have a management role as far as I am aware (isn't he starting another competitor?).

The funny thing is that I actually defended the initial decision to charge customers as a potential pathway to make money (there was at least some internal logic to it). But to really know whether it was a good idea, he should have done some marketing research. Instead, he negotiated the price in public with Stephen King of all people and, according to you, now is eliminating the customer value associated with what he planned to charge. So yeah, he needs some consultants with a background in the industry. Badly.

Lol, imagine thinking the notions that "you shouldn't do things like release a half-baked new pricing system with no apparent marketing research or planning" and "you shouldn't alienate your paying customers" require huge amounts of expertise in business.

Yeah… that last part is so true. This isn’t “expert advice”… this is common sense. I think the part that he is missing is that everyone on the planet has as much experience running a social media company as musk did 3 days ago…but he is acting like Musk is a world renowned expert in social media management and development, and everything he says is beyond question… even when no one can explain the purpose of $8 “verification” that doesn’t really verify.

I know. You’re a genius. I hope you and Elon connect so you can save him from himself.

In some circles, that is known as the "art of the deal."

    1) Act like you dont need them
    2) Terminate employee
    3) Reverse course and beg for employee to return
    4) Employee demands higher salary for said return
    5) ?
    6) Profit!

Great, so the Biden Administration can count them as more newly created jobs.

I wondered about that. I presume Elon used existing layoff plans. A job cut of that size takes time to put together.

Kara Swisher said that he got rid of two entire teams that were working on the things he is planning to roll out.

This isn’t really about twitter but I didn’t want to make a thread on why conservatives are cruel.

Ted laughs at Americans losing their jobs.

Ted thinks some jobs are for losers.

    This is a US Senator.

Everyone seems to be focused on $8 a month, blue check marks, double check marks, fired employees, $44 billion, Musk overpaid, Musk wanted out, etc.....while all of that makes for good emotional headlines none of that moves the needle really for Twitter.

Musk owns Tesla, Nueralink and Optimus. All of those companies are big into AI. AI needs data. The more data AI has the better the AI is......and now Musk has spent $44 billion on one of the largest social media platforms.

Social media platforms notoriously collect large amounts of human data....yeah. This has all of the ingredients to make Google and Amazon's data collection look like child's play.

I don't think Musk really cares if he gets your $8 a month or not. In fact, he will probably give you all the check marks and warm and fuzzies you want just keep tweeting.

Mix Twitter, Starlink and Doge coin (crypto) and Musk owns the keys for all of humanity around the world.... to which no government can stop or control (ie Ukraine)

There's a lot more upside to Twitter, for Musk, outside of $8 per month.

Not that I have seen. It appears to have been planned with the same logistical precision as Putin’s February invasion of Ukraine. That just came off the top of my head. Because I think about it more, that’s a pretty good analogy on many levels

I'm not following this post. Many governments have already banned or blocked all 3 of those...
