I would guess that half of the Ukrainian dead are civilians. All of the 80,000+ Russian dead are military. Greatly increasing numbers in theater just means that each artillery shell will kill more Russians. That's why the draftees are called "cannon fodder".
The period since WWII has been the most peaceful period in human history, based on the percentage of the global population at war. Which is fairly surprising, considering that the technology to kill people has advanced dramatically during the same time. One of the direct results of the global peace has been a steady advancement of the economies of developed nations, which would not be possible if wars were widespread.
80k seems on the high side but I really have no idea. Interesting how tough it is to get accepted Russian deaths. Which would then be 2-3x casualties.
I’ve already dispatched this Paul Bunyan type tall tale of Russian dead. 80,000 dead, along with presumably at least that many wounded, would amount to more than Russia had committed, to the theatre, until just the last couple of weeks. Set aside that Russia has not waged the campaign in such a way as to expose large numbers to fire. That’s what Ukraine does.
Certainly seems to ring true around these here parts .. The Farther People Are From The Fighting In Ukraine, The More They Oppose Peace Talks
The oil companies aren't very enthusiastic about drilling more wells and they say they won't build more refineries. Since our light crude oil requires a different refining process than most of the refineries we have now should our government help pay for new refineries that will process light crude oil?
I don’t know that point is wholly true. He still has not taken what I believe are some obvious measures, starting with firing Jake Sullivan’s dumb [posterior]. If you can’t even identify the single point of failure for every national security blunder this administration has made, then how can you effect real change going forward?
I feel like it’s 1942, and you’re telling me that our merchant fleet is insufficient for the task of transporting our militaries to war and, further, that the merchant companies are reluctant to build more vessels since the U.S. Navy has failed to adequately protect them to this point, so you’re asking should the U.S. government supplement merchant marine ship building? My answer is, yes. First win the war. Subordinate all other considerations, real or imagined.
Once again, you have failed to dispatch anything. How do you know how many troops Russia has sent to Ukraine? Is that what the Kremlin tells you? Of course, the Russians are going to lie about how many troops are in Ukraine. Don't be dense. They are going to pretend to have a small number of troops there. It's less embarrassing. Simple logic on a couple of points makes it painfully obvious to the most clueless of independent observers that Russia has committed a hell of a lot more than 80,000 troops, or 3% of their military (2.7 million personnel). Why would Russia draft 300,000 people (11% of their military), creating massive disruption in Russia, just because 3% of their military was getting pushed around in Ukraine? Why would they not first increase their troops committed to 6% or even (*gasp*) 10%! Why would they bring in criminals straight from prison if they were not desperate? Where are the rest of the 97% of the military hiding? Are they guarding Siberia? If Putin really wants to achieve this objective and avoid humiliation as well as a possible coup, he would commit closer to half of his troops than just 3%. Why would new draftees be thrown into battle with less than a week of training, instead of putting them on a base for 3-6 months of training, so they might have a decent chance of survival, unless Russia was desperate for bodies on the front lines? Is Putin really that stupid? U.S. intelligence has estimated anywhere from 170,000 to 200,000 troops came into Ukraine during the initial invasion. They have satellite pictures, so the estimates should be fairly accurate. Estimates of killed and wounded are around 70,000 - 100,000 at this time. About 80,000 draftees have been brought into Ukraine already. What we don't know is how many additional troops were brought into Ukraine between the initial invasion and the introduction of the draftees in the last week or so. You can find many references to these numbers with a simple google search. We already know that Russia is having many of the injured soldiers treated in hospitals in Belarus, with doctors under strict orders not to talk about casualties. This is to hide the numbers of casualties. Wake up and smell the coffee, man! P.S. To further destroy your propaganda, Ukraine is becoming expert at guerrilla warfare. Small groups of Ukrainian hunter-killer teams patrol no man's land at night, pick up the scent of Russian cooking, and do recon on the Russian camps, and then return later at night and kill the Russians. Apparently, Ukraine is not exposing large numbers of their troops to enemy fire. If you are going to spread lies, at least try to make them believable lies, comrade.
90 freshly refurbished with upgraded optics and armor T - 72 tanks coming from Czech with US paying for the refurbishment and upgrades. Thats some significant heavy weaponry. Is this really what they need or more himars with more distance? Ukraine To Get 90 T-72B Tanks From Czech Republic (msn.com) Ukraine will receive 90 badly needed T-72B main battle tanks from the Czech Republic, with the U.S. and Netherlands sharing the $90 million cost to refurbish them. Part of a $400 million Ukraine Security Assistance Initiative (USAI) arms package announced Friday, it marks “the first time we are paying for these tanks to be used in Ukraine,” Sabrina Singh, a Pentagon spokeswoman, told reporters, including from The War Zone, Friday afternoon. An undisclosed number of these tanks, which will be equipped with upgraded optics, communications, and armor packages, are scheduled to arrive in Ukraine by next month, with the rest next year, Singh said, without providing details about exactly what systems the refurbished tanks will have when turned over to Ukraine.
Vladimir Putin's Troops Call For Munity As Ailing Russian Leader's Prospects Of Winning War In Ukraine Grow Slimmer By The Day (msn.com) According to Daily Star, at least 39 troops have raised the white flag, returning home to Russia instead of continuing to fight in Ukraine. “For several days they hid from shelling, some were seriously wounded, others were killed,” said one source close to one Russian soldier who retreated from Ukraine back into Russia. “Our men ran out of provisions and water, there was no ammunition.” “They ate what they could find, and drank from a puddle,” the soldier’s compatriot further told the outlet. “Nothing was brought to them, they were simply sent to their deaths.”
If the Russian army had any clue what they were doing, you would think they could destroy at least one (1!) HIMARS artillery unit, just by dumb luck. But they haven't gotten a single one. Russia has failed to destroy a single HIMARS launcher to date, but Ukraine still needs more artillery: report
they will drill deepwater if the gubmnt commits to buying it to fill the SPR. Refinery margins on biofuels are higher than on processing oil due to ethanol requirements. there are two large refineries that the gubmnt could buy for cheap. Philly and St Croix USVI. Both need substantial capital investment to bring them up to speed. The military could run them and use them to supply their own fuel needs and take that demand off of the market and sell any excess into the US market.
Russian radar can't see far enough to detect launch and by the time the plot trajectory to determine launch point, the launch vehicle has moved. I am surprised that they ahven't been able to infiltrate some small units to locate and sabotage
German weaponry effective against drones if within range. Maybe set these up around major electrical facilities Switzerland refuses to allow shells to be transferred to Ukraine...not a fan of this position German Tanks Making It Easy to Destroy Iranian Drones: Ukrainian Soldier (msn.com) "The Shahed drones are very easy to fight when we're within range," said the gunner codenamed Max, referring to the Tehran-supplied unmanned aerial vehicles which are testing Ukraine's air defenses. .................................. You've actually got to place it in the right place and that means having an understanding of where the enemy is going to fly its drones from and to because it can easily be out of range," he said, as it's only a short-range weapon. The use of the Gepards comes amid a row between Germany with Switzerland over the supply of ammunition for the weapons. German Defense Minister Christine Lambrecht had asked Switzerland for permission to supply 12,400 rounds of Swiss-made ammunition for the anti-aircraft tank. But this was rejected by Bern, which said it would violate Swiss neutrality. The 35mm shells had previously been supplied by Swiss companies to the German army on the condition that it could not re-export the munitions without Swiss approval.
not looking good for Putin Vladimir Putin: Leaked documents have sparked fresh speculation about Russian President's health (msn.com) The report appears to confirm that the Russian President has Parkinson's disease and pancreatic cancer. It also claims that Putin has been relying on a super secret cocktail of drugs which has been invented personally for him. Reportedly, the stimulating substance is composed of 'psychotropic drugs' that boost Putin's energy just before public appearances and important meetings.
