Great game 5. Houston wins 3-2 and back to Houston.

Verlander finally gets a WS win and great save by Pressly. Big 9th inn catch in CF by McCormick robbing extra bases saved the Astros.

Great game as the Astros go up 3-2. How about that rookie SS for Houston? Jeremy Pena. Won the Gold glove this year and had 2 RBI's tonight!!

I will be in College Station for the 11AM game and then hustling back to H-town to catch Game 6 (sadly not in the stadium but hopefully a bar downtown). Really hoping for a terrific Saturday!!!

Did not see it, but saw box score. So in today's world of better medical treatment, better nutrition and better training, all, as in 100% of all MLB pitchers, are physically and mentally unable to throw more than 100 pitches in one single game. No hitter, well by committee only. The starter pulled after 97 pitches, oh the horror of it all if he wanted to go 3 more innings and try for a 9 inning shutout and No-no.

All of the above is snarky, obviously.

Since MLB wants to "save" the pitchers, I suggest what is done in Jr and High schools as well as youth leagues.

Have pitchers limited to say 60 or 70 pitches per game, by rule, and no more than one appearance every 3 days. Add pitchers to roster, take it up to say 24 per team. Have some 20 or so other players to a yr around 45 man roster. And while we are at it, eliminate or virtually reduce the extra inning games by loading the bases for every team if score is tied after 6 innings, thus inning 7 onward bases are loaded, no outs.

While at it, lower the mound to say 12 inches. Better for hitters. Instead of a DH, have 2. A DH for the pitcher and an EH for the weak hitting whoever.

I missed Don Larsen's no-hitter on tv. My neighbor buddy faked being sick, stayed home and watched on tv. Our teacher that day was peeved at the class and did not roll in the tv to the front of the room so we could watch the WS from 1 pm on. I recall during WS, all the boys got to sit on floor in front of tv, girls in seats behind us. One teacher. 43 kids in my 5th grade class.

I grew up in Chicago so after school we ran to the closest kid's house to watch after missing about half the game.

And in 1959 I don't remember seeing any of the White Sox/Dodgers World Series games on TV, but I do remember listening to the games from LA on the radio eating dinner. The clock radio was an Admiral on the top of the fridge. It could be that we didn't have a TV. We might have gotten our first in 1960 just in time to see the last installment of Howdy Doody.

My wife and MIL are rooting for the Phillies. As former Reds fans I think it is some sort of National league allegience. Maybe rooting for the underdogs. My son is rooting for the Astros.

I just want to see good and exciting baseball. Games 1 and 5 were awesome. Very entertaining and good baseball. Game 4 had the no-hitter element of suspense.

It is all there for that Astros to take. Losing two in a row at home would be an epic fail. But the Phillies had an epic fail in 1964 and this is a chance at redeption.

Not that any of the Phillies players were even born then or know anything about the 1964 season collapse.

I remember ours as a brown wood box type, it had a clock on the left side (as you look at it) the FM/AM settings and knobs were in the center and the speaker was on the right side. If I remember right…..

Yuli Gurriel is out for the remainder. A thin lineup just got very thin.
