I think there's pretty reasonable correlation there. Many times what keeps talented kids from living up to expectations is handling the pressure appropriately. They're young and dumb and don't realize how much more pressure and scrutiny is put on you when you act like a fool during recruiting and make thousands of rival fan enemies.

Not many people can handle pressure like that and being "cocky" isn't enough when looking for the motivation to give 100% every day, when you get to college and you're behind to athletes as good or better than you, when you don't get immediate playing time and all your buddies and family are asking why and your excuse is blaming the coaches.

Being a 5* is pressure enough, so it just makes sense the chances of it affecting them go up when they put a lot more pressure on them and make social media enemies.

''I ate so many meatballs, the people there started looking like meatballs ... 'The first night I was OK with eating at the stadium. But when they told me we're going to eat there again, I was a little disappointed. I was like, `Take us to Red Lobster or something.' That's when I pretty much made up my mind. I can't live in a place that don't have any restaurants. What am I going to do — fly home to eat shrimp?''

Can you blame him, our "zone" defense made LSU's QB look like Patrick Mahomes.

Since this is the Twitter thread...
I think it's worth mentioning what Elon is doing at Twitter as a comparison to what Napier is doing in Gainesville.

I've been involved in about 15 company rebuilds (taking over an underperforming business unit or branch) in my career. During my first rebuild I tried the nice guy approach and gave everyone the benefit of the doubt and let them stay. It took about nine months to figure out that didn't work. After rebuild #3 I realized it always ends the same way -- all previous leadership is fired and then 75% of the staff turns over in 12 months.

After the purge was complete, it took an average of two years before the business unit was thriving. Yes, you could see improvement immediately but the desired results took about two years to achieve.

Elon blew up the leadership in week one and got rid of 50% of the staff in week two.

Napier kept very few leaders from the previous regime and I would expect about a 50% turnover in personnel by his one year anniversary.

He has a plan. He has a system. He has the leadership necessary to pull it off. He just needs the personnel.
