If he weren’t Governor, it would be impossible to get permits to dump all this junk in the desert. The area is a hotspot of biodiversity but performative political stunt for the win.
Dumping trash on federal land in a way that harms the environment simply to play to the anti-immigrant biases of the Republican base. The feds should fine him personally for every day that crap is on federal land.
Classic deflection. Why is it that some people feel compelled to point out another wrong rather than simply admit the subject of the thread is wrong? I think it has to do with lack of intellectual honesty.
Tale as old as time on both sides. As for the subject. Pandering is what we do in politics. Its out of control. Find a better way and clean it up.
Not sure why this got an off topic since the post right before talked about the governor dumping trash on federal land. Maybe I still haven't figured out what that rating is used for. Whatever.
It's off topic because it's off topic. Now you know. The OP was about a political stunt by the Governor and the subsequent, knowing negative impact to the environment that he has a responsibility to protect. It's not about littering by interloping illegals. Defending these sort of whataboutisms only serves to encourage them.
Why let people come here illegally when there is in fact a LEGAL way to migrate here. I will guarantee you this the libs are trying to import votes, that's why the borders are wide open. As soon as the Latin vote goes pub the libs will completely seal the southern border and deport all of the illegals....LMAO!!!!
It received an off topic because it has nothing to do with the Governor of Arizona illegally putting these containers on federal land, which is the topic of this thread. The goal of the post is to sidetrack the actual discussion. (It's also a random picture offered without context.)
Most are immigrating legally through the only system they can: the asylum system. Outside of that, if you are a low skilled worker without the ability to utilize family migration (a system Republicans proposed ending as they derided "chain migration"), you have no real way of coming to the US legally, despite our need for low skilled labor right now.
OP called the containers junk. OP's link references environmental impact. You stated, "Dumping trash on federal land in a way that harms the environment". I post an image of trash in the desert left behind by immigrants but apparently that must be the good kind of trash that is environmentally friendly supporting the vast biodiversity of the desert. https://www.valleycentral.com/news/...-by-immigrants-posing-risk-to-nature-reserve/
I have to laugh that you're posting pictures from Border Patrol of all people: Clothes, shoes, passports: migrants forced to dump possessions at US-Mexico wall And USBP noted it was Earth Day on 22 April by posting pictures on Instagram of asylum seekers’ belongings with the message that it was “trash and litter left behind by illegal immigration”. In Texas, Brian Hastings, border patrol chief for the Rio Grande Valley sector – another busy corridor for migrant arrival – last summer tweeted “It’s piling up” and labeled images of people’s property “burdensome trash”. But Quiroz said: “It’s not that they’re [asylum seekers] leaving a mess. When Border Patrol shows up, they tell them to drop everything and get in line.” * * * Blake Gentry, director of the indigenous language office at Casa Alitas, a migrant shelter in Tucson, estimated that about a third of people arrive at the shelter without documents or belongings. He suspects some agents are forcing migrants to dump their possessions in some sort of rogue practice. “If this is happening on the US side of the wall, it’s most likely Border Patrol,” he said. Border Patrol made migrants throw away backpacks, passports, birth certificates ------------------------------------------------------------- But yet again, I note that this thread is about what the Governor of Arizona is using government resources to do DESPITE being told that he's breaking the law. It's not about what some individual migrants do. Address the topic of the thread.
