Well, this definitely seems like a carefully thought out, systematically and rigorously examined observation and not at all a desperate rationalization in response to recent bad news.

I think one answer we will all find out over the next few years is will other schools have the money year after year to offer these players? Its hard to understand how this works just yet. If all the 5 star and high 4 star kids only look at how much a school will offer them, every school will need to have money to pay them every year. Now coaches get into how much money do we spend this recruiting cycle, who do we need the most and how much do we offer to make them come? This is ugly man. Then you get into kids not being worth the money you spent, locker room dynamics between players...etc. Its not a great look for college football, mainly when schools are just giving the players money vs. players being on a pay scale based on stats or productivity. The thing about Billy that I like so far is that he really seems to be focused on building a strong culture which will be very important if we continue to rise in recruiting. As a coach you can't have entitled players doing what they want bc in their eyes they "made it"

 

Thanks for the info. Hopefully Ahmad himself learns something from this tweet and the WHOLE Cormani ordeal itself. He should probably take a step back from social media bc it looks like he's getting a lil too involved in the things that fans are involved in. Hopefully he can let all this stuff go and learn from this whole experience

Just don’t anyone get into social media wars with Ruiz. He could take any verbal we have and offer them $500,000 to $1 million per year to decommit and play for the U. He would do it right before signing day to really screw us as well. I know people think he has paper money, but he lives in a $40 million plus house in Miami, after market declines still has over $2 billion per year and his business will continue to generate billions in the future. Some doubt it, but I’m telling you he can give the U $15 million per year just in interest and not care. He is a U fan with money. Don’t poke the bear.

 

This is what I was thinking as well. Don't throw the baby out with the bath water because you and some of your teammates gonna be making that money too
