Incorrect and that’s the problem with evangelical Christians and apparently a sizable portion of Muslims. Your faith should not mold OUR politics. Look if you believe in Jesus that’s fine. Go out do good deeds help people out be a good person practice your faith. As an agnostic/atheist I do the same but Faith has no role in governance.
I’m inclined to believe that people of faith should abstain from politics. If only to avoid profaning themselves.
Is an "elk in turkey" anything like a Turducken? Seems like it would be easier to fit the turkey in the elk than the other way around. I'm gettin Hungary just thinking about it. If you have to feed a Brazillian soldiers, that's probably a smart way to do it. Turducken - Wikipedia
The Russians don't improvise? What about drafting people from the four corners of the empire and providing them with ditch-digging training before sending them into battle? That is out-of-the-box thinking right there (or out-of-their-mind thinking). What about using weapons from the 1960's and 70's to confuse the opponent? What about having not one but TWO lines of barrier troops to prevent malingering or escapist tendencies on the front line? Using toy drones for spotting the enemy? How about abandoning tons of usable equipment, weapons and ammunition when they retreat so the enemy has to slow down and laugh at it? That is a lot of innovations right there. I suspect that Putin is going to win the Russian Shiny Bullet Award for all of his innovations before this war is over with. They are probably just discussing who will give it to him.
Christian (or any and all) religions in a communist country are almost always controlled by the government. The Russian government controls the religions within Russia, and so does China. The Catholic Church recently got into a dispute with China because the Chinese government insisted on choosing the bishops for the Church in China. Guess who the bishops answer to? A communist government, just like a dictatorship, is in power without the consent of the people, and needs to control any organization that can influence the will of the people. The number one goal of a person in power without the consent of the people is to stay in power, because comfortable retirements are very rare if not impossible.
I suspect that political opposition to the war (from republicans, especially) is increasing as the mid-terms get closer, and will likely decrease after the elections are over. They are opposed to Biden, and this is one of Biden's biggest initiatives.
One our many problems in dealing with Russia over the last year is precisely that we have not “taunted” them at all. They have repeatedly threatened us, and we have meekly responded with the equivalent of nothing more harsh than “Gosh, well, we hope they don’t mean that.” Putting a finger back in Russia’s chest and saying, “Threaten us again, and watch what kind of toys we give Ukraine next” would be damned appropriate.
Encouraging….. Russian forces leave checkpoints in Chornobaivka, several other settlements in Kherson region
I think that makes sense and I hope that you are correct. But the House may keep the drum beat going even if the populace does not
I tend to agree. It’s one thing to whine about school policy from the safety of the Teacher’s Lounge when you’re not in charge. When you’re given a position of authority, though, it’s a different matter. The only way out of this is to defeat Russia, one way or another. If the Republicans win next week, the war becomes just as much theirs as the President, and they are not going to want the stink of defeat of them.
I think plenty of Republicans would not want the stink of defeat on them. Russian defeat, that is. Aligned
You are incorrect. Faith will guide MY politics. That is what I am saying. It is a fabric of my being and cant be separated. I will vote based on my faith. I will not however conflate my faith and a segmént of politics as one in the same like many on the right do. Every politician is guided by their personal belief system, whatever that may be and everyone will vote based on their own personal belief system. There is nothing that says otherwise. Government cant establish or hamper the exercise of religion, but it can certainly be an individual to decisions.
Zelensky fired his minister who circulated the myth of Russian mass-rapes. Apparently, some lies are too outlandish even for Ukraine.
