Easy call...I had this pegged for a while.

    Ya'll, we're projected to have 22 DB's next season....This won't be the last transfer.

Wilcoxson probably left because he isn't playing and when he watches the secondary getting torched every game, he is probably wondering why he didn't get an opportunity. If you can't get on the field when the players in front of you are doing terrible than you know the coach doesn't think much of you.

No, you keep 85 on scholly - like we did - and let them compete. You learn more about players that way.

Did you see my second post? We were going to be over 85. What happened? Are these guys who are dropping off, grayshirts?

Was not aware that UF did the Alabama grayshirt scam.

More than likely due to the Covid eligibility rules and temporary suspension of the caps.

I just started a thread on this - check it out. We're not a "young team", it's that the official class listing includes a covid year for everyone.

We're projected to be WAY over next season...so we're going to lose 23+ from the current roster. This will be a massive roster turnover.

"Grayshirts" are incoming players so not guys dropping off. These are players who have signed but pay the first semester themselves as a part-time student. This keeps the eligibility clock from starting & gives them time to develop so they have the opportunity to play at the school of their choice. It's basically the same concept as a "redshirt".

Because of the admin (Machen), Florida had disallowed its coaches from doing this for a number of years while other schools were. It was part of the reason were had a numbers-depleted roster for years.

I know a long time Florida high school coach. We discussed this at the time & both thought the "high road" was best. That coach later related to me that the players were in favor of grayshirts because it gave them an opportunity they otherwise wouldn't get, they just want to get into a particular school & compete.

one of the biggest rebuilds I can remember for Florida. This thing has gotten rotten to the core. Fire em all Billy, get the right ppl in the program and lets move forward.

Well if that's the goal then no wonder this coaching staff doesn't have much time for adjusting game strategy. Just kidding, kinda.

Good player, bad player, overrated player... It does not matter the transfer porter is the worst thing about college football in my opinion.

Could be tempers, could be people planning their next step and Billy saying "ok thanks but we need to move on here"

These things don't always have to be acrimonious partings. Sometimes it's about doing the right thing for each party.

The transfer portal was a great correction for the state of football prior to NIL. It should have happened decades ago.

But once NIL was added the two together make a terrible cocktail.

I think this is a good sign overall. Best of luck to him but Billy has a program to build.

I think the thought of it was good, but in practice it has created team swapping at will.
