With the young talent we currently have in the DB room and the promisingly incoming class he may think opportunities may be better elsewhere. Or, he may not like the new coache’s : who knows. Wish him the best and hope he leaves us in good standing. Burning bridges can be a bad thing for a young man to do.
I will just say this again, it all feels late. This should have been their responses (all sides) after the spring game. Kind of weird.
The Gators have a habit of recruiting athletes with similar names. Kamar Wilcoxson is not Kamari Wilson. It is a good thing we no longer have multiple athletes named David Reese.
Easy to say in hindsight - you have no idea of the impact on new team chemistry of walking in and cleaning house before one game is played. I mean damn - you still gotta have players. At some point we need to stop looking for ways to criticize every single event that happens with this team. One thing we know and need to keep in the front of our minds: this team was broken when Napier walked in the door
My guess is that as losses mount, tempers will flare. Also I get the impression that Napier has given as much time as possible for certain athletes to improve on the field or off the field, and something must have happened behind the scenes in recent days to cause a locker room shakeup.
Yes, but I also think he kind of knew who were the guys who were less-than-sold on his way. And it seems he would have just told them so after spring. If you recall, and it never got the press, when we ended spring and then the freshmen came onto campus in the fall, we were technically over the 85-scholarship limit. How did this all work? These guys who are now dropping out were on grayshirt?
Losing games truly shines light on one’s character. Possibly more losses on the horizon; so, expect more adversity within the roster. Like cleaning out an infection.
Roster needs a complete makeover. Goal is to get 25-30 recruits plus 10-15 transfers and still be under 85 by August.
Think about it at the upper levels: 30 recruits and 15 transfers, which would mean 45 scholarship athletes that have never set foot on campus playing next year versus 40 who have. Damn, talking about "cleaning house"!
We will be very busy in December with the 45-day transfer portal window after “Championship Selection.”
My guess is it was probably the fallout from the emotional loss and the lack of playing time. Players do question the coaches when things aren’t going well and coaches may see that as not buying in or a distraction. Either way, we have to get our numbers down so this was an easy spot to clear up.
If we have 35-45 new players coming in and only a handful of seniors and players going early to the NFL, something has to give. Does Dean still have eligibility left?
