Crimea has an isthmus (narrow land bridge) to the NNW and a bridge to the north (NNE) that connects it to Ukraine, and a bridge to the east that connects it to Russia. The east bridge was the one that Putin was so proud of, and was partially destroyed allegedly by a bomb in a truck.
