Fine with Coach Napier living by his faith and speaking on it, as long as he isn't pressuring the kids or requiring them to accede to his religious preferences.

Interestingly enough (at least to me), Dylan swore off drinking and smoking for a couple years while making the Nashville Skyline album, and his voice was actually pretty good. Barely sounds like the same guy as his other albums.

 

I'm old enough to remember when that album was released. We really couldn't believe it was the same guy. Besides the change in genre from folk rock to country his voice really did sound completely different.

Lots of these boys have been to church, know Jesus and a Christian coach is more of a bonus to their parents than many would think. America's Founding was shaped by Christian moral truths, but has been a source of controversy since its inception and it will remain so.

I'm curious what extreme Christianity is? There is fake christianity with its prosperity and false teachers. Real Christians have the backs of their Jewish friends and good people of other religions. Real Christians love Israel. Any form of anti-semitism is incompatible with the gospel of Jesus. I think the anti-semitism is very political.

The strong beliefs could precipitate a culture that would prevent some coaches from joining the staff and maybe keep others here due to their beliefs and culture fit as much as their abilities. That is concerning to me. Monocultures are not the most productive environments in the long run. I would not be in favor of "optional" religious related events for the team.

 

The thing about Protestants is that they all think they get to decide what a "real" Christian is or isn't, there is no authority on the matter, everyone gets to interpret Jesus and the Bible for themselves. Shockingly it tends to fit their already existing biases and world view.

 

I am not agreeing with you, but I will say there is a reason non-denominational churches are thriving.

Gee and I thought state financed academic institutions were supposed to be dedicated to Academics and a Secular Environment free of religious pressure and persecution.

Here's a solution, you wanna coach or play or promote a cultist religion? take it to an institution that subscribes to your
particular cult practice.

 

Are there examples of pressure and persecution from Christians on college campuses? I can easily find the woke ideologies applying pressure and persecution on a daily basis at most Universities. This really is about as hypocritical as one can get.

The cult comment is interesting. Billions of people across the entire world follow Jesus. It started roughly 2,000 years ago by a handful of believers with the Romans securely with their foot on the necks of these people. The gospel of Jesus spread around the globe with no cars, airplanes or internet. There is a great historical book called "Killing Jesus." It does not push Christianity. It's an easy read and references everything. I feel confident non-believers would enjoy it even though you may not like the author.

Yes, Christians can't stand the association of Christianity and the word "cult" which of course, is exactly what it is.

Many "cults" professing god-heads and supernatural beings existed millenia before Abraham, during his life and of course afterwords.

I understand that Christians consider their beliefs as sancrosanct, and represent the "one-true" god.

I happen to believe that is nonsense. Even in the Protestant sect of Christianity their are numerous dissagreements about canon, ritual, even the clothes to be worn and the food to be eaten.

If Christianity gives you comfort, a basis to live by, a sense of community and human worth, by all means have at it.

What pisses me off are the Christians that refuse to enjoy the freedom to worship the way they see fit and decide to use politics to enforce their value system on others. Thabts called "mind control". Freedom FROM religon is just as big a driver for some people as those that choose to "bath" in it.

 

I think freedom of religion not freedom from religion applies here.
