Defense lawyer is apparently playing up that DePape was the victim of misinformation. Makes we wonder how many of the Too Hot right wingers are also trying to build up that potential defense with what they post here... "You're Honor, sure I could explain why the FBI found me hiding in Hillary's septic tank, clutching a cat-ear headband, and babbling about the illegal Mexicans voting for post-op transgender kindergartners, but here is a print out of my Too Hot posting history ... I rest my case." “So I’m not going to add to all the speculation by talking about the facts of this case right now,” he said, adding: “What I will say is that there’s been a lot of speculation regarding Mr. DePape’s vulnerability to misinformation and that’s certainly something we are going to look into, that we are going to delve into, as his defense team, but again it would be premature to talk about that at this time.”
I’d wager to say that a good number of people on this board have been behind the wheel in a suboptimal state at least once. Certainly, though regrettably, true for me.
I got behind the wheel once or twice while drinking, over 50 years ago and I was hardly a grown man. I was probably not legally drunk either. I don't drink and I don't smoke pot and I don't do drugs so not a chance.
Well. Let’s just hope someone takes a hammer to George Bush soon so you can not feel sorry for him. Priceless.
When did a DUI become an unforgivable sin worthy of any evil that may fall upon the sinner? It's a bad decision, no doubt. But if people deserved to get kneecapped or worse just because they made a bad decision, we should go ahead and fold the tent on civilization. It's over.
It sounds like you have an admirable record on this account, and I commend you for it. However, I would humbly suggest we should always consider the possibility that we are exceptional in some aspects, this one perhaps for you. While I hope no one ever drives over the limit, it seems a very common behavior that doesn’t carry with it a life sentence. I think offenders should be able to pay their debts for this act in full and not have rights taken from them for their lives.
I don't drink. I don't smoke. Never have. Yet, I still can find sympathy for an old man who was almost bludgeoned to death with a hammer. He made a mistake, as pretty much all who get a dwi. Whether you agree if the penalty he received under the law was enough, that's a different story. But to have no sympathy for him says a lot about you. And you admitted you have had a drink or two before getting behind the wheel. Age doesn't matter, at least it wouldn't for the hypothetical victims if you were to hit someone, so it sounds like pot meet kettle here.
So, how does this unfortunate, mentally il soul get into a home that is under 24/7 surveillance by the Capital Police and ostensibly has a pretty sophisticate alarm system? One would think that either: 1) DePape is a criminal genius capable of circumventing some of the best residential security available 2) The Capital Police are profoundly ineffective at their job 3) Someone other than DePape knew something was up and facilitated his access into the Pelosi home by ignoring the home's security systems There is much, much more to this story .... specifically, how DePape was able to confront Mr Pelosi without being detected. And, "who brough the hammer to the party"? Just happy no one was killed and that both will get help.
When a right wing nut job attacked and attempted to murder the person third in line for the USA presidency, that's when.
I imagine there are lots of people (that you know personally or don't) who have driven when they shouldn't but that you'd still have sympathy for them if they got hospitalized by an home invader. That would seem sufficient for you to consider whether your attitude toward Pelosi is at least partly partisan.
