You're welcome.. It was a fun time. I couldn't keep up because I was looking at the roster half the time. Even Lane was unrecognizable with red locks.

Could not juggle birthday dinner and attending the scrimmage. I guess I will wait until Monday to see the new team.

I attended a pregame TipOff club function where Golden spoke. A key tidbit he mentioned about the Miami scrimmage was UF was 24 of 27 from the free throw line. He says they have a lot of good free throw shooters.

That's good to hear. Poor free throw shooting has cost us a few games in recent years.

"Our depth. It's a challenge for me and the staff to really drill down on an eight-man rotation at this point. To be honest, we can't and we wouldn't even try," said Golden, whose team opens the regular season Monday night at home against Stony Brook. "We have a number of guys that we feel really good about playing. …With that the biggest challenge, for the staff now, [is] how are we going to put these pieces together and are we going to make sure they all fit properly? I honestly think our biggest strength is depth and there will different guys every night giving us something."

And, as Golden added, that's not a bad problem to have.

I am not sure why this is even a thing. Why not play more people and keep everyone fresh? As long as they can contribute good minutes and not be a liability. Mike White kept people on the bench who were clearly able to contribute and played other people way too many minutes, so they would have to pace themselves rather than go 100%. I hope to see 10+ people get substantial minutes. It is also great for recruiting when players know they will see action early and often in our system if they earn them. Also these players will be ready for increased roles when other players are in foul trouble.

Anyway, I don't want him to try and drill down to 8 people getting minutes. That concept is crazy to me. Make the other coaches job as hard as possible when they have to scout us.

OK I am off my soap box. sorry :D

You want players to know their roles so having a expected rotation can be helpful. I think we need 9 for SEC play. At some point, someone will probably get hurt and render this moot.

I want him to go with whatever wins us the most games. If that's drilling down to a preferred eight, so be it.
He did say that, outside the #1 and #5 positions, he's got seven or eight guys that could start at the other three spots. So I think he's going to have a regular nine-man rotation, with two or three other guys that will get situational minutes.
