Florida Status as a sports program

Let's just say, at least our school mascot is unique and our colors are cool

 

We're mid pack at best. Bottom third in Football, picked 7th in hoops this season. Baseball hasn't been that great recently.

Our Athletic Director has done a fine job.....

 

I won't give a ranking, I'll simply say we're not as high as we used to be.

 

Add all the programs and we are number 1. We have at least six elite coaches running the various teams.

 

Considering last year and this year which is CURRENT status, not so great - 6th or 7 is about where we are I guess.

However in the broader context of all sports, UF is much stronger.
Outside of the big three sports, UF is arguably the best in the SEC.

I like womens Vollyball, all Mary Wise has done is win the SEC 24 out of 30 years and just took the lead in the standings this year.

(I follow numerous UF sports outside the big 3 actually.)

 

Honestly wingtee, I wish you would start a thread about UF Football. The Gators are now looking at 14 years without being in competition for a crystal football or playoff championship.

We haven't been to the playoffs of course.

We have not won the SEC since 2008 and have pretty much been beaten to a pulp by Bama when we do make an apperance in the game. (2020 not withstanding)

We are facing what could be a second consecutive losing season.

As an older Gator (63) I think it really sucks how the amatuer aspect has been flushed down the toilet.

We were just posting about "pay-to-play" and some fans are blaming the "fan-base" for not antying up enough dough to keep up with Ruiz and Cane Backers. Unlike the millionaires whom inhabit this board, I'm more worried about my sons college tuition and the power bill, as compared to what 5 star UF can win in an auction! I freakin HATE what Sanky and the University A-Holes have done. RUINED IT.

I just hope that Napier can rebuild this thing. I don't like to blame past coaches and administrators and I'm not sure I should. I like UF football but when the game becomes so filthy and corrupt that fans are turning on one another about "whom gives the most NIL corruption money", I'm not sure I should give a shit.

Football: (3-way tie) for 11th place (Auburn, TXAM, UF)
Basketball: Pre-season #6-7
Baseball: ?Top 6

Overall Rank(F-B-B): around 6th - 11th
The Florida (4-4, 1-4) football team would need to win all of its three remaining SEC games to maybe finish 6th (4-4).

Hate to break it to you but we are a track and field, gymnastics and softball school.

 

Get ready to be told the fans are bad and Florida doesn't deserve anything good.

 

TN and Arky might be the best all around schools at the moment

 

A history of being perennial contenders in the all sports awards, both in the sec and nationally. Fallen off a bit from that standard. Football, basketball and baseball being subpar does not help. We won't be down forever.

 

Maybe Napier and Golden will change my mind. But our AD sucks at hiring coaches.

 

I always look forward to the response from the Show Me State. LOL.
