Check out Auburn. There's no reason we couldn't end up like that too. When ordinary people start taking themselves seriously just about anything can happen.

There's one way for Billy to shut him up- start winning games next year and showing that you're good enough to build a team. If and when he does that they will be quiet

I'm not one who blanket hates the media but my understanding is Long has been a d-bag for a long time.

While all UF coaches the last 20 years have had short runs, all of them had success to varying degrees. We don't have any Derek Dooley or Chad Morris level dumpster fire coaches. Ron Zook built the foundation of a national championship team. Urban Meyer won two national championships and had a third team good enough to win one. Will Muschamp played in a BCS Bowl. Jim McElwain played in two SEC Championship games. Dan Mullen won double digit games twice and coached a Heisman finalist. Obviously none had lasting success but they all proved they were worthy of being hired.

If your threshold for a head coach being worthy of respect is only someone with the longevity and accolades of Steve Spurrier or Nick Saban, that's a really high standard.

    In my head--- UF
mark long's employment is up to him and AP.

Media credentials however are different ..i searched for media credential rules but on UF nothing yet... on other college sites there is this

NCAA policies and procedures as well as conduct him/herself in a professional and ethical manner.

I disagree. You show respect first. Old-fashioned manners and common decency. If we're in year 3-4-5 and a coach is on the hot seat, that's different . . . but you still act respectful. It's lost on many in the younger generation these days.

This guy is a COMMON reporter for the AP (a couple of notches above writing for The Alligator) talking about the HBC at The University of Florida.

I'm not saying he should be fired. He should be called out by someone in the SID's office. He is unworthy of Coach Napier's attention . . . except to answer questions at the appropriate time. He should face consequences with the AP.

My first question was, "Who the hell is Mark Long?" The answer seems to be that he is just a nobody that thinks a lot of himself. Napier is too big of a man to say a word to this guy now or treat him differently, but, I sure wouldn't like to be Long at the next presser.

I think he knows he’s embarrassed himself, with his words. He’ll have to face CBN and players daily, and I hope what he said bites him in the ass.

I don't find anything but social media rules for UF. Clemson has a media policy:

Clemson University Athletics Media Credential Policy
VI. CREDENTIAL HOLDER REQUIREMENTS AND LIMITATIONS
    A. Credentialed media representatives and their outlets, including student representatives and their outlets (“Credential Holders”), are asked to conduct themselves in a manner consistent with professional codes of conduct and ethics (such as one provided by the Society of Professional Journalists) in terms of their actions, decorum, dress, etc.
    D. Credential Holders are responsible for the conduct of their representatives including any damage caused by the negligent, reckless, or malicious act of their representative.

SPJ Code of Ethics - Society of Professional Journalists
    Minimize Harm
Ethical journalism treats sources, subjects, colleagues and members of the public as human beings deserving of respect.
    Journalists should:

I don't like that guy. He over values himself. Acts like Dools, but has the tradition of Memphis U.

Being a beat reporter is not an easy job. Walking the line between maintaining your objectivity and developing good relationships with the subject(s) of your work takes care and diligence.

I had a similar job many years ago (on a much smaller stage) and even then I had some challenging moments.

Long's screw up is instructional though. I think some good can come out of it for the young journalists who are paying attention.

Oh no, everyone knows the only thing ironic about all the verses in that horrid song is that literally not one of them is ironic. Coincidental, tragic, sure but irony is making a song called “isn’t it ironic” and not having a single ironic tale”. Irony is when the opposite of what you think would happen, happens.

Sorry to be that guy but I grew up on Carlin.
