Yeah but the wording of the orders of the Supreme Court and the lower courts mean that there will be further legal proceedings in Graham likely will not say too much. They basically said that he can still object to questions based on the speech and debate clause and have the District Court resolve it. His lawyer will certainly try to shield every bit of testimony of any value by instructing Graham not to answer and required it to be further litigated.

I would not count on this leading to any actual meaningful testimony

Yep. Just running out the clock. It really only requires that the house change hands. Technically that should not alter the outstanding legal obligations but in point of fact it will. But the precedent has been established, which was necessary

This is a state request and is not coming from the Jan 6th committee. He will be testifying in a Georgia related case

I would disagree that a majority of the voters want MAGA, they just don't want the far left even more.

do you think it is a good thing that MAGA influence controls the legislature making it guaranteed to be a tribal body even more so than historical?

I was referring to two separate things - Sen. Graham testifying before a Georgia GJ on election related criminal investigation, and separately, the House Ways and Means Committee request for DT tax returns pursuant to statutory authority. The latter is what I was referring to in the statement about the House changing hands

The current request for Trump's tax returns is from the House. Given that it's virtually certainty that the Republicans will control the House come January that request will die. 26 USC §6103(f) also provides the Senate with the statutory authority specifically the "chairman of the Committee on Finance" to request individual tax returns. If the Democrats manage to retain control of the Senate they can always make a new request for the Orange One's income tax returns.
    Below is the statutory language:
    f) Disclosure to Committees of Congress
    (1) Committee on Ways and Means, Committee on Finance, and Joint Committee on Taxation
Upon written request from the chairman of the Committee on Ways and Means of the House of Representatives, the chairman of the Committee on Finance of the Senate, or the chairman of the Joint Committee on Taxation, the Secretary shall furnish such committee with any return or return information specified in such request, except that any return or return information which can be associated with, or otherwise identify, directly or indirectly, a particular taxpayer shall be furnished to such committee only when sitting in closed executive session unless such taxpayer otherwise consents in writing to such disclosure.

I believe in democracy and the fairly elected representatives will represent, as they always have.

is that a yes or a no? Historically, representatives were more aligned with the best interests of the country and not the best interests of the party. Now, certain sects of both parties have encouraged tribalism and one party has fell to it. Is that a good thing to have more tribalism with no thought to the issue, just vote party line, and anybody that doesn't is a traitor to the cause?

you would be mistaken there, not as long as the minority is protected the way the constitution envisioned, and people are actually representing and not voting out of fear. too many votes being cast out of fear of being primaried by MAGA.

do you think our current system of democracy is working when practically every vote is along party lines and cross aisle votes are attacked by zealots?

our form of democracy is dependent on a set of checks and balances to keep each leg from becoming too powerful. It worked with Nixon, it didn't with Trump.

do you support MAGA? You don't seem to like answering questions. political operative?

Do you think a potus should be beyond conviction as long as his party has enough votes? the opportunity for a strongman with no respect for the constitution to ruin our democracy is too high right now and that is due to MAGA and their willingness to ignore the truth and facts in their desire to please the leader
