Lots of optimism in these picks. I just don't see it. Aggies at home against a Gators team that appears to be in some disarray is a tough mountain to climb. 27-23 Aggies.
Gators score on some long drives with lots of 6 yard runs but the Gator D makes the TAMU frosh QB look All SEC. TAMU 31 Gators 24
28-25 Gators In this Saturday's "Jimmy Sexton Game of the Week" in the SEC, the focus is on Sexton's clients who have not exactly been tearing it up lately (though Gator counterpart Billy Napier seems to be one loop coach that Jimbo Fisher has yet to anger this season). But the natives are starting to get more than a bit restless in College Station as the Ags' sights have already been readjusted from the SEC West to the Music City Bowl to merely getting bowl-eligible, which itself looks increasingly difficult for an A&M side that now must win 3 of 4 to merely reach that low threshold. Aggie-exes are also wondering what took Jimbo so long to turn to frosh QB Conner Weigman (338 YP and 4 TDP last week vs. Ole Miss after the offense coughed and wheezed for nearly two months with Haynes King and LSU transfer Max Johnson at the controls. Jimbo's defense also hasn't been quite the same since coordinator Mike Elko departed for Duke in the offseason, either, reflected by the nearly 400 rush yards that Lane Kiffin's Ole Miss piled on the Ags last week. We're not sure how much better of an alternative Florida might be, especially with only brief flickers this season from erratic QB Anthony Richardson (only 7 TDP into November), but he has flashed big-play ability in recent games (81-yard TD run vs. LSU, 78-yard TDP last week vs. Georgia), and as of last week's polls, the Gators had already faced five ranked teams this season, partly excusing their uninspiring 4-4 SU mark. At this stage, however, we need to see a bit from Weigman and would rather not trust A&M, which hasn't won a game since September as Jimbo's contract continues to age like milk.
I don't know what to make of this game. I am just confused and anxious on what team comes out on Saturday. I don't know what to expect, but I hope to be pleasantly surprised. I don't really want to predict a score, but since you all have a gun to my head... Gators- 37 Aggies- 35 Mihalek kicks a 37-yard field goal as time expires! I do believe if we can find a way to win on Saturday it could set us up to run the table. Finishing 8-4 and getting a solid bowl bid would be a minor miracle for this team. Go Gators!
Their whole offense is really Achane running the ball. We have to have sound gap control and then pressure their freshman QB. On the other side, their defense is brutal with DJ Durkin pulling the strings. They have a great pass defense but we can run on them to set up the pass.
I understand you are joking, but my nerdiness will not let it go without saying… Did you know the lowest possible score in football is based on forfeiture, 2-0 for NFL and 1-0 for college and high school.
I saw this info gatorcountry.. It is referring to the Gator Offense performance in the 2nd Half of the Fl/GA game this past weekend: "I do think Florida could be even better if it implemented more spread sets and used more route combinations that are designed to put defenders in a bind. A lot of what the Gators do is run something sound and expect their players to beat the defenders. That can work at times, but UF doesn’t have good enough outside playmakers or an accurate enough quarterback to go from good to great at it. Spreading the defense out doesn’t automatically work, but it can at least take away variables by having fewer defenders near the ball at any given time. It’s also what Richardson was accustomed to prior to this season. The UF offense simply has some obvious holes. It seldom uses screens other than bubbles, and it almost never throws to its running backs except as safety valves. It doesn’t have many quick hitters in the pass game, and it rarely uses tempo. Once Florida started filling in some of those holes in the second half, things worked a lot better. This is what I'm afraid of...kind of like Max Johnson's first start for LSU in 2020 . It seems like we are rarely prepared for a new QB starter or the backup guy off the bench.
Torn on this one. aTm has a four game skid going, we have a two game skid. Neither is playing like a complete team right now. Home field helps them. Another of those heart versus head picks; Heart: UF 33 aTm 27 Head: too tall an order with so much inconsistency and a D that is suspect aTm 38 UF 24 ( I hope I am wrong). That leaves vandy usce and f$u.
Yeah I did know. And you're right, completely joking. That's about all I have left at this point and time Humor makes it more palatable. By the way, I'm kind of nerdy too!
I was just thinking of how often we make poor quarterbacks look great. We really have had some poor defensive coaching for a long time. I don’t see any other explanation. We tended to do this even when we were somewhat talented.
