PolitiFact - Misinformation fuels false narratives about attack on Paul Pelosi The right-wing ecosystem that created the Paul Pelosi conspiracy theory
The MAGA/infowars/Tucker wing of the Republican Party effectively recruits guys like this. While not all act it out, this crazed conspiracy stuff basically *is* the Republican base right now. We saw that on 1/6. You can see it on Facebook, or a handful of the crazier posters here who basically are on the same mental level as this fellow (at least that’s how it comes across from my perspective). I don’t see how it’s sustainable, honestly.
One of the defining characteristics of the Cluster B personality types that make up MAGA is their love of the idea of violence against women. There was a similar plot to hogtie and kidnap the Governor of Michigan as well.
This is who they are. Don’t think for a second that these right wing zealots, including the posters here, don’t think that the Pelosi’s had it coming. Their comments, jokes and silence say it all.
Do you read what they are saying and posting? Kari Lake, Musk, the posters here. Just Read the thread.
And let's not forget Glenn Youngkin the governor of Virginia. The guy who ran last year as a conventional center-right Republican and turned out to be another Trumper, sort of a Ron DeSantis lite.
It's the culture. Even those like Youngkin who know better or knew better exist within that culture, and either the bubble convinces them there is a point or they fear the consequences of not going along. Plus the psychology of the crowd and ingroup/outgroup. The real problem is the Republican base. They demand hatred.
I've wondered what percentage actually believes these things versus those who promote them to troll or hoping even a small percentage of people will run with it. It also causes the media to have to go on defense. As Bannon reportedly said, they are flooding the zone with s---.
Yep. And then to avoid accusations of bias, you have to present itas a disagreement between the parties where there is some truth in the middle
Youngkin successfully ran his campaign around CRT fear mongering the suburbs (the GOP issue du jour of the time), so it’s not like he’s above shameless pandering.
agreed. I was hoping that he was turning away from that type of stuff but that’s appearing more and more to not be the case
Ever the concerned citizen - MTG blames Paul Pelosi’s attack by a RW extremist on ………. wait for it …… yes, the Democrats.
Duchen that's bullshit and you know it. Gator515151, myself and others were clearly joking. It makes you and others sound like, well I'll leave it at that
Why should I feel sorry for an 82 year old grown ass man who drove drunk and injured somebody? He could have killed someone, does he deserve to get his ass beat? Well maybe not but he ain't getting no sympathy from me.
We are fine with how we look and sound because we are against hammer attacks. We weep for this country because it has people like you and 5150 in it.
