Mind you he is saying that at a UF press conference among all the other journalists, and none of them had a problem with it. That tells you how little respect they have for the program. Stricklin had better handle this.
It was Bobby Petrino and a UF grad working for a radio station. She shows up to a unplanned presser after working out in Gator gear… Bobby answers her question then calls her out for the Gator hat… the radio station fired her the next day… Renee Gork: Reporter Fired for Wearing Florida Hat to Arkansas Event
What I want to know was what was the question and who asked it when Napier vehemently said "I didn't say that, I didn't say that" right after the Fl-Ga game. He was visibly irritated, but didn't go any further.
There's a balance with being a beat reporter. You need to maintain objectivity, but at the same time you need a rapport and the respect of those you talk to. Long hurt himself there.
I believe the narrative behind the questions was an attempt to get Napier to admit he doesn't have the players. No coach in their right mind wants to throw their guys in front of the bus even if its true (in this case, it is sadly).
Agreed, but this was post new conference back slapping blather between colleagues. Its pretty much no different than locker room talk between a bunch of guys....mostly meaningless.
Weak sauce how? If dude wants access to coach and the athletic department, he needs to act accordingly. Access is a privilege, not an entitlement.
Doesn't bother me, but if it bothers somebody that matters, I'd understand. Mark Long is substantially more replaceable than Billy Napier is, even if only by the nature of their respective jobs. Would love to see what the *Fool*-around/Find-out dynamic reveals. Go GATORS! ,WESGATORS
The comment was made in response to CBN dismissing Cox ? If so, someone would really have to have had a lot of faith in Cox or not much in Napier.
