Rumor spreadin' 'round In that Texas town About that shack outside La Grange And you know what I'm talkin' about Just let me know if you wanna go To that home out on the range They got a lot of nice girls Have mercy A-haw, haw, haw, haw A-haw, haw, haw, haw Well, I hear it's fine If you got the time And the ten to get yourself in A-hmm, hmm And I hear it's tight Most every night But now I might be mistaken Hmm, hmm, hmm Have mercy That little ole band from Texas: Billy Gibbons / Dusty Hill / Frank Beard
Texas style BBQ, especially brisket. Austin is a great city. That’s about it. Texas is the most overrated state in the US. Not that it’s bad or anything… just consistently overrated. Texas is the Beatles of states.
For time at UF I played basketball on Saturday mornings with a group of guys. I was heading out to Port Arthur, Texas for a summer job, and one of the other guys was heading to El Paso for his two weeks of national guard duty. He suggested we get together on the weekend. He was shocked to learn that Port Arthur, Texas was halfway between Gainesville and El Paso. Half of the distance was in the one state.
Their speed limits are higher. But their exit system off of highways sucks ass. And every road is under construction all at once (Houston I'm looking at you, Beaumont too, that whole area sucks)
Congressional Medal of Honor winner /Actor, Audie Murphy was a Texan along with Farrah Fawcett, Sharon Stone & Earl Campbell. Texas Thank you for your service!
Congressional Medal of Honor Winner & Hollywood actor, Audie Murphy, Admiral Chester Nimitz, were both Texans. So were Farrah Fawcett, Sharon Stone & Earl Campbell. Roger Staubach made his fortune there & starred with the Cowboys as did Emmitt! WWII B-17 pilot, Tom Landry was the Cowboys’ first coach. Texas A&M has the most congenial, accommodating fan base I have ever encountered. More importantly, the school has produced 7 Congressional Medal of Honor winners. Lastly, my grandfather was fromfrom Kerrville, TX.
Great post, except there were never Medal of Honor "winners." It was never a competition. They were awardees...
