Save your nonsense, was just making an obvious comment. No one intelligent believes he was dismissed for his on field play.

If I may say, it feels like this should have been after the spring game. I figured if there were some inmates who thought they had scholarship (if this is what we are talking about) he should have been told "here's the door, I am holding it open for you."

    Curiouser and Curiouser.

Some of you know jack squat and jack left town. DEs sometimes are asked to play a gap other than C gap on certain defenses/stunts/etc.

Just because he goes inside does NOT mean he is always out of position. Coaches see this, they know what is called, and it could be Burney is not containing when that is his job.

So unless you KNOW what the defense is called, you don't KNOW he is out of position. Could be the LB on his side.

May have been slowly developing since Coach Napier indicated it was "cumulative."

“Brenton, we kind of decided to move on here,” Napier said. “I think that being a football player at the University of Florida is a privilege there are certainly expectations that come with that.“

As an aside, I do hope Cox has a nice career as an NFL special teams guy. I think he would do well at it. Good luck going forward. And thanks for the memories. At least a few of them.

he was quite inconsistent this year, would make a few great plays, then disappear and/or miss tackles in the backfield. he was a long way from being "quite good".

he does not play a position that is in position to clean up other players mistakes. Actually, to the contrary, when he misses something, somebody has to clean up his mistake.

Could be locker room or practice field antics, which I would not consider off the field. Off the field to me is anything not related to football and against code of conduct. But this was after a game and weekend, so off the field could be the issue.

He doesn't and yet he did. There is plenty of tape of him running down plays across the field doing so due to his athleticism. Yes he had his flaws that were well documented but I can assure you we would have looked even worse many times if not for him.

I've always thought that the fans deserve to know why players get dismissed. We are expected to show up every week with our greenbacks, contribute to collectives, buy NIL products, suffer through endless rebuilds, scream our lungs out at the games in 100 degree heat, and participate loyally as the system throws money and luxuries at these unproven teenage "amateurs." We are told that all of that is required of us because we must be "all in" to create a winning environment. But, then when things don't work out with a player to such an extent that they have to be released from the team mid-season (negatively affecting the team), all of the sudden it's none of our business.
