IMO his level of play today was much improved. Also noticed that he wasn't flexing and running his mouth at opposing players. Coincidence?
I agree @GatorBowl1969 and hope maybe he grew-up a little during the bye week or Coach had a heart-to-heart talk, maybe both. As hard as some in Swamp Gas have been on him, glad we have somethings to make a positive thread.
Still... cant tackle in the open field. Still....l takes poor angles and overruns ball carriers. Still.....cant cover a TE. A crucial 3rd or 4th down in the 3rd and everyone on the field, in the stadium, and watching on the tube knew the Uga TE was THE receiver. Sure enough, to horror, disgust, and fright of every UF fan, good number 0 lines up across from said Uga TE. -------->>>>>Uga first down and ball game.
He caused a penalty after a play when he pushed a player in the back. He played waaay better tonight but his propensity to do knuckleheaded things lurks beneath his new shiny improved veneer. Go Gators.
Thought Dean played better and Burney might of had his best game of the year, 7 tackles and a couple of passes knocked down. Kind of surprised we didn't see more from Cox against his old team, 2 tackles.
Um, the player equivalent to a moral victory? Okay. To me, it isn't all that much about whether he is less "look at me!" or even a bit better than bad, it is about what can he do out on the field that helps us in the long run...since that is what we have to play for after about the 5th game. And the only thing I have is that the other, younger options may be SO bad that they may get emotionally scarred if they take over in earnest. It doesn't hold much water for me. McClellan can play but others can't? Time to play the youngsters in earnest. We are sort of behind schedule...for the next season.
He seemed to have tighter coverage, and his strengths, IMO in playing his one on one ball skills and coverage. I think his issues stem from his decision making when he is in zone and has to adjust to the other teams routes.
Dean always gives 100%. That sideline play with the tight end mentioned earlier, he couldn't have played it better - the offense always has the advantage if they execute.
Are you talking about the block in the back on the kick return? I can’t remember if it was a kick or a punt return but I’m pretty sure the #0 that committed that penalty was Ja'Quavion Fraziars.
On The TE play, I thought he was a bit rushed getting over. He should be loping running with a TE (unless bowers is really fast) and then when Bowers was turning, Trey didn’t recognize it and got boxed out. But all in all, our D had much tighter coverage. A good QB and a great TE….
I thought the defense as a whole played a lot better. Saw their punter more than I expected and not sure if we gave up a 3rd and long. That seems odd considering we gave up well over 500 yards but first game in a while I saw improvements.
Redemption? He has already played 40+ games and only has 4 hopefully 5 left? A little late. Unless he turns out to be be a 'look at me' player that does just barely enough in college according to the one scout/NFL team to ride the pine on Sundays, make a few millions, and drift into obscurity.
With one exception, I never disparaged a player, and I'm not inclined to do so now. I hope Trey gets it together and does great things. After all, he's one of us...
