I think the defense played good this game. I expected a complete rout but the defense held strong many points during the game. Take away the off the helemt TD (would have been a third down stop) and the horrendous PI penalty (also a third down stop) and possibly the game swings a different way. I think AR should be replaced. Not consistent. Numerous open receivers he well over threw. If he is not a threat to run, his arm scares no one.
Not sure of your take, but to me, not putting in Kitna was a BIG flag about Napier. We shall see where this ends, probably at the end of next season.
Time will tell. I will say, evaluating talent independently of the recruitniks is important too. Unlike Mullen, I suspect you won't see as many tweeners with Napier no matter how many stars.
Not sour grapes. I loathe UGA,but they are a far better program than we are. Up and down, they are just flat out better than we are. We won the game in 2020 cause Stetson Bennett missed about 8-9 long throws. Now.....THIS UGA team in 2022 isn't anywhere close to being as good as the one in 2021. That defense was really great. We on offense couldn't even get out of our stances last year. This 2022 UGA team ain't winning any NCAA title.
What really irritates me is that AR gave up on the fourth down at the end of the game. He didn't make much of any effort to try to extend the play and throw it into the end zone. Instead, he throws the ball out of bounds. Tells me his heart is not in it. Perhaps it would be better if he became a pitcher instead of a QB. He has the arm for it and maybe he would be more accurate without people being in his face. Also, I do not care for BN's demeanor on the sideline. He may be an intense guy but it doesn't show. And the team seems to mimic that lack of intensity. The only group who seemed to show some energy was the kickoff coverage guys.
I don't understand why Gators have elite coaches in the minor sports but average at best when it comes to basketball and football. Very discouraging.
I never said (or believed) we had a chance to win this game. But to not understand why AR wasn't going to win the game passing (and Napier did not have a magical card in his pocket), and he did not try Kitna once, this is a bone of contention with Napier and this fan base. He has some 'splaining to do.
We are going to be really good in men's basketball this year. Golden is a great hire. And so is Napier.
A lot of people are ignoring the fact that if we didn't have a QB in there with the strength to shake of the first defender and keep the play alive, UGA probably would have had 15-20 sacks.
I hope you are correct but many thought White Mullen and Muschamp were great hires and how did that work out.
4-4 1-4 SEC 6th place, in the east Thought it was gonna be a rough year. Is this what you expected though? Could be playing Vandy for the cellar spot - ouch!
My question is with this army of analysts, how can we not incorporate the RBs more in the passing game. It seems the few times we do AR misses them (had MJ wide open on seam route for TD) but it doesn’t seem to happen often. As Mullen showed that one year, it’s one of Georgia’s few, if not only, weaknesses on defense appears to be covering backs out of the backfield.
It is not the play calling. You are right. Guys are open but AR is missing them. That makes all coaches look bad. But… AR has not even played a full season yet as a QB plus a brand new offense. The guy has all the tools plus. He’s still really inexperienced and balancing a new O and some injury. If he stays, next year he will be lights out I believe. But to your point if the QB can’t find the open guy, SOS would look bad. “Wes Chandler was Percy Harvin before Percy Harvin was born.”
agree AR played well but I’m sure he’ll catch blame. Dean and Burney both played well iMO McClellan was good. Needs more snaps.
I don’t plan to watch basketball this year. If we happen to win 25 games, I might watch it next year.
