Give me a break. Fans are fans, I'm sure the poodle fans were critical. I'm not saying to not be questioning, I'm just saying we are going through frustration waiting to finally get better. They did too, I'm guessing.

We laughed at him. He was terrible at clock/game management. I did not expect him to last.

We are all allowed to have an opinion. Clearly many coaches get it wrong… hence they get fired.

Only time will tell whether Napier makes the right calls (on OC, DC and many others). But his calls are not right by default as you suggest

 

What has improved on the field since the Utah game?

 

Well, first, we played the # 1 team and they have a LOT more 5* players. Second, we did make them punt, more than once. Three, we made them turn over the ball. Against the #1 team, I'd say there was improvement.

That's all I wanted to see. It was looking like the final might be 55-0 for a while there

 

To be fair, at this point in Kirby's first year they were arguably worse. They had just lost the cocktail party and were also 4-4, but had a 1-point squeaker over Nicholls State.

 

Sure there is. We're recruiting our needs & getting consistently good players. For years after Meyer we were 15-20 players under the scholarship limit - basically on self-imposed probation. We lost our connection to many high schools because we weren't filling out our roster. This is a near-total rebuild of the program.

 

So we made Georgia punt more than once and that’s evidence of improvement? Got it.

 

The OL is what they have been. Jawjaw has a stout D and our play action and other calls did not help. When we started running quick hitters we improved until we ran the same play too many times. Seems we had receivers open on many long plays. A la Trask or not quality routes for QB to read easily?
The D actually played better than I would have predicted. Not good, but….
Kick coverage had better intensity.
Jawjaw had better players and coaching tonight, along with a better plan. I don’t feel we adapt and flow very well on O. All coaches are stubborn, so time will tell.
4thand 6…. All the 3rd and long down runs up the middle against a very good line, well time will tell if that will get r’ done. Don’t change momentum against yourself.
I dislike talking about the refs, but wow, it was Halloween.

We scored 20 on them, they way it started I wasn’t sure. Came out more energized after halftime.

Meyer won championships. But you’re saying he was doing it the wrong way. Napier hasn’t won jack squat, but he’s doing it the right way? I think I see what’s going on here.

 

That Napier and his staff are able to get this kind of effort from this team (there’s no denying the talent and depth differential between the Gators and uga) makes me excited to think about what he and his staff will be able to do as that gap closes…which he/they have already demonstrated they are doing.

 

All due respect this is a weak take.
He took them to the national championship game in year 2.
From the looks at our scheme, talent on roster, we would not win Conference USA.

 

So we lost to the number one team in the country and that's evidence of zero improvement? Got it.

 

No he didn’t the class was like 20 and then Grantham got canned and Mullen got fired. then the class imploded.
Napier would have been wise to try to keep some of the players from portal at least for depth. Most all the transfers out are starting elsewhere
