He didnt know the ball was down. The hit was almost simultanious with the play ending and the whistle was almost simultanious as well. It was clearly a borderline call because the refs huddled forever.

 

Really low football IQ on the defensive side, lack of placement, lack of positioning, pretty common these days, but when you play a good team it really bites you in the butt. Coaches can't do anything about; except recruit higher FIQ players. Go Gators!
