Let's call it what it appears to be, the aftershocks of the NCAA allowing the floodgates of money unimpeded into the player procurement system. Recruiting isn't your older brother's game anymore. And in an old conversation regarding rather vanilla offenses versus the "dazzling" ones that some coaches use, the time one wins something truly important (ie, a major championship) will be the first time. The grass is always greener on the other side, when it is AstroTurf. And while this isn't a pure analogy, but the time a major college team buys something truly important (ie, a major championship) will be the first. And THEN we will see a fundamental change in the landscape, and IMO not in a good way at all. Major college football then becomes a bad idea of AAA minor league football. And maybe being THAT bad makes it finally clean itself up. We shall see. Meanwhile, what I have to believe, as it is inferred in plenty of posts here, is that if you don't get a player who wants to go to the highest bidder, then you are in a better position as a TEAM and PROGRAM than you would if you chose to win the bidding war. Basketball is pretty much bought (although there are plenty of folks taking the noble path) because one player (or two) can change the team completely. But there are WAY too many moving parts in football for anyone to buy all the parts in a way to make it work to perfection, theoretically. And as a discerning, but Gator sports, fan, I say thanks for letting us know what makes you tick before you had the chance to try to pollute the UF football program. I am sure you will fit in quite nicely at Da U.
There was a picture of McClain about a week ago wearing Miami gloves at a workout or practice. I guess this was a good indication…
Why is it now we are hearing all the negative stuff on McLain ? Are they true? Skipping practice and classes? Not a good attitude? All I heard prior was he was a great kid he just wanted to keep things private? Where’s the truth?
Skink when it is I expect you to make the post and let the boys know here. There will be a celebration I’m sure for all the guys I’ve pissed off here ! Lol, well not that funny.
This ^ 100% I would even suggest to mods to please remove all threads regarding this kid. I want to see threads about other kids UF is still pursuing and have a chance to get.
Let’s get ricks and have them duel it out over the next 3-4 years. See who ends up having the better college career. The guy coached by Corey Raymond, playing in the SEC in front of 90,000+ , or the guy coached by MC and whoever his DB coach is, playing in the freaking ACC playing in front of literally dozens of people
Who’s the carver boys? Not sure Bryant and Rashada are actual misses when it comes to future production. I know we are supposedly third on the ricks sweepstakes but what are the chances we throw everything but the sink at ricks now? Go all out
It often doesn’t even matter when they sign. How many times have we been crushed to miss out on a super recruit only to later see that recruit do nothing at the school they chose?
Interesting, watching the news this morning and there isn't any indication that the world was, in fact, shocked.
Not a basket case, mind you. We're just not a championship level program anymore. We can't close the deal with the 5* guys you need to win championships. Who we lose them to is irrelevant. Keep in mind that Napier wants to win titles. When he gets us back to respectability, don't be surprised when one of those elite programs comes calling.
