Damn, and here I am thinking we had the 9th rated recruiting class. 1 spot behind Miami. But to hear these posts tell the story you'd think they done took our cornbread and left us out to dry.
Perception, man. Since Napier and Cristobal got on their respective campuses, Miami has now clowned us 5 times at the last minute on a kid we thought we had (Citizen, Jackson, Rashada, Bryant and now Cormani, hell you can even add Kinsler if you want). It's a pattern, and it's a problem. We all know it's not because all these kids just want to go to Miami and that there's $$$ involved, but we need to figure out a way to get this to swing the other way, and do it fast. We can't be losing elite in-state talent (central FL talent at that) like Cormani and Bryant to friggin' Miami. Bama and UGA? Whatever, they're firing at all cylinders at this point and have the ring(s) to back it up. Miami has nothing, not even a fanbase.
Well..because all these recruiting experts told us he was committing to us..evidently he indicated or leaked that out so as to then mock us..this was planned..he was not coming to UF...it only is surprising because that's what this kid and the u wanted..it was a big game...had nothing been leaked out on purpose, then we wouldn't be so shocked ...he played us
McClain looks like he's maybe 140 lbs. He better put on some weight if he wants to stay healthy playing college ball. And if he actually stays committed to Miami once the check clears, just give it a year or two before he hits the portal.
I get it. I agree take the money and run I don't have a problem with that. What I do have a problem with is IF he in fact lied to BN , and UF coaches his own HS coach and fellow recruits as is "suggested" by multiple people until the last second, well that speaks to his character he will fit right in at DA U. Look at what is going on at Texas A&M just 2 years in. Fast forward to DA U in 2 years and we will see what Money, South beach, and a questionable coaching staff does to a 17-18 year old. I believe they may have a problem? Let's see where UF is in 2 years and compare and judge programs process accordingly.
Hope isn't denial. Whatever this f***ed episode proves, it probably doesn't show anything that proves our program is a basketcase. Remember there are three parties here and we're in the same position as one of the parties that happens to rule college football. You wouldn't want to change places with the "U" would you? A "has been" team in a dying conference with nothing but a craven desire to try to buy their way back to relevance. It won't work.
The rules have to change. Miami is offering money straight up. That's against the current rules but there is no indication that the NCAA will do shit about it. From what McLain has said, this makes no sense unless he has a check he's cashing. I get it from that perspective.
Kids that do this crap seem to fail at a high rate. Can you think of an elite smartass that was ultra successful besides deyon.
Kid’s nickname is “Money.” I ain’t mad at him for taking the high bid. The perceived “trolling” is all speculation at this point. He’s been hush hush pretty much from what we can tell. I think the issue is, we can afford it, but we didn’t bid high enough. I trust Billy in working them NIL metrics to figure out how to maximize our recruiting budget. All of this negative talk about Billy and Mario are silly. Would you trade Napier for Cristobal? The answer is no. You can’t call our coach Sunbelt Billy and then put Mario on a pedestal for what he did at FIU (which was in the Sunbelt at the time). I get that there was a power struggle there with his AD, but did dude have to go 3-9 before getting canned? The criticisms of Mario being a great recruiter, but have yet to prove that he’s a good game day coach is warranted. Bottomline is we lost this battle, but the beauty of verbals are that they are just that. Ink don’t hit paper until early December, so let’s save some of that “the sky is falling” energy for football Saturdays.
