Oh I'd like to know the real story and I imagine it is what we all expect but comments don't have to be gross to exude a collective meltdown. It's what ruiz wants. He's loving this. It's just not as significant as people think it is. now it is significant in that if this continues to worsen the trend of buying recruits last minute then it doesn't bode well going forward but the kid is gone and we still have a good class. I'm more concerned about lsu Tennessee Georgia and Bama going forward. Miami will stop stealing recruits when their program continues to implode. Cristobal still can't coach and smoke and mirrors only go so far when the team can't beat Duke at home in front of 8500 fans

No big deal y’all. Just a kid getting bought. Not a lock to be an All-American and certainly not gonna win them any kind of championship, just a kid, a 5* kid, but a kid. 4*’s can beat 5*’s. Miami is not going to become some powerhouse, and if they do, they beat fsu every time; works for me. Still great to be a Florida Gator. Can’t even imagine what it’d be like to be a Cane, player or fan. What a miserable thing that’d be.

And no, NIL is not destroying college football. Not even close. NIL disrupts recruiting, but it doesn’t destroy college football. Anybody believe TN thinks college football is ruined? I know a coupla GA fans and they seem fairly satisfied with the game. AL and OSU are pretty close to where AL and OSU are every year and they seem happy enough. Hell, even Mississippi, Wake Forest and now even Michigan fans have to be kinda tickled with college football. I used to get a great deal of pleasure out of following recruiting, but the combination of NIL, the portal and changes in player loyalties have eliminated the nice linear, orderly building of a class that used to occur. These multiple factors have made recruiting confusing, less predictable and much less enjoyable, but recruiting is not football, recruiting is a separate game entirely, and unfortunately that particular game has changed for the worse.

All Ahmad cares about is his HS team. He could care less about where the kid goes to school.

I disagree. Ahmad Black is a Gator and intentionally chose the exact same emoji our HBC uses to signal a commitment.

    That's not just a coincidence.

Wishful thinking. he is not going broke. Regardless, his bank account is not supported by Revenue at UM or UM games. Whether he has a billion dollars or 500 million, dude can live off interest income and piss away tens of millions of dollars a year and it wouldn’t hurt his bottom line.

Was this really a “recruiting” battle?? Need to change the name now, recruiting doesn’t fit anymore, more like bidding, at least with the perceived top tier guys. If this is the way it’s gonna be, and it is, then why are the coaches not allowed to talk about it, straight up?

    ET,
We are all hurting right now, but given Ruiz recent tweets and anger. I suspect he kept it tight to the vest then made the call as I suggested before.

I'm not going to hammer Cormani if it's in the best interests of his family but it's a hard reminder of the no rules Lassiez Faire capitalism that has been unleashed on College Football.

I cautioned the board several times that the last week before signing day could see radical decommitments and changes when the real auction starts.

I suspect this is just a portent of things to come.

Yeah, they’ve hired some real great coaches there lately, lol. Miami hasn’t even won a division title since they moved to the ACC nearly 20 years ago. The ACC! They’re trash, lol.

If this kid has talent, he doesn't need championships to get drafted.
So you take the money and be gone in. Three yrs.
    It's an easy decision.

You absolutely can disagree. But HS coaches could give 2 poops about the recruiting of his players. I’m sure Ahmad is happy for his kid but now he needs to get back to trying to win a state championship. Trust me here . I lived it.

Or he told Ahmad after the fact that Ruiz offered him millions and couldn’t turn that down.

He got destroyed by Utah last season, got a chance at a rematch against them in the title game, and lost even worse. That shows a complete inability to coach and adjust. This year he got lit up by MTSU and Duke and is 3-4 and will be lucky to win two more games this season. He’s awful.

how did he leave Oregon, he played in consecutive conference title games (2019 and 2021- the Covid season was shortened in pac 12), winning one of them. And winning the Rose bowl. His coaching record at Oregon was 35-13. FIU? You really gonna hold his record at FIU on the same level as his Oregon track record? A program, in FIU, that was in its first decade of actually having a football program? A program with 4 winning seasons in its history (in which he has half of them).

Cherry pick your numbers to justify your anger...

Edit: you'd lose your mind if he got blown out by Utah twice in his last year before leaving. And yes. When he was at FIU he was coaching against similar conference talent. He's a recruiter. Won't dispute that. That's all

Will you say the same about Napier if he has a losing record at the end of the season?

I’m far from sold in Napier, but we know for a fact that Cristobal is 100% a bad head coach, the proof is all over the place.
