one of the reasons for not pre-counting ballots is that if results are leaked, and it appears that a overwhelming result in say senate or govenor, many will not bother, thus hurting important local elections and ammendments, just like exit polling numbers are not released until after the polls close
There is a difference between precounting and release of the results. Florida for example counts mail-in and early voting ballots as they arrive but doesn't release the results until the polls close on election day. I don't recall Trump complaining about precounting in 2016. The reason why Republican legislatures banned it in a number of states prior to the 2020 election was to provide Trump with the opportunity to claim victory when the polls closed and then claim irregularities when the count of mail-in ballots was completed a couple of days later.
Off-topic but the first, and very possibly the last and only time a Supreme Court decision was leaked. If some one with an agenda wanted to leak the results of early voting it certainly would have happened by now.
It doesn't matter. I don't think PA is going to elect a crazy white dude with a goatee who chases innocent, unarmed minorities with a shotgun pointed at them. Who do you want as your senator? A Harvard-educated heart surgeon or Travis McMichael? That's basically PA's choice here.
Fetterman is the choice each and every time. We just can’t risk electing a GOP’r anywhere except flyover country. No matter what they say because as a group they’re liars who are intent on doing great harm to our country. In Pennsylvania People hate hate hate that little nome from New Jersey. Dark Brandon is campaigning for him today it’s over for the carpet bagger
Noted. First poll out post-debate: https://www.realclearpolitics.com/docs/2022/InsiderAdvantage_Penn_Oct_27_2022.pdf
PA's choice is between its own Lt. Governor and a puppy-murdering, snake-oil-selling TV host who lives in New Jersey.
That seems like a weird sample of independents. If you look at the break down by party, things fall out pretty predictably for Repubs and Dems for both Fetterman/Oz and Shapiro/Mastriano. But their independent sample sways heavily towards the Republicans. The Inds in the poll favor Oz by 66% to 23% and Mastriano 55% to 30%. That's really makes you wonder about the sample of independents they have there.
how about this scenario if fetterman wins. he gets sworn in any then resigns, allowing a replacement to take over.
