(TEN) W Tennis Roster

Came across the information below on tennisrecruiting.net about one of our incoming freshmen playing in the Junior Wimbledon quarterfinals:

While the boys semifinals feature three unseeded players and the top seed, the girls semifinals have the top seed, the No. 8 seed and their two unseeded opponents.

No. 1 Victoria Jimenez Kasintseva of Andorra again had to come from a set down, but she defeated British wild card and Florida rising freshman Alicia Dudeney 3-6, 6-2, 6-1. Jimenez Kasintseva will face Nastasja Schunk of Germany who defeated Matilde Paoletti of Italy 6-3, 4-6, 6-2.

 

That might be the reason she's transferring? She wasn't happy with her performance last year? Or happy with her progress? Or coaching was uninspiring.. She might feel that she needed a change to get her motivated"?

 

I see a new name on the roster - Emily de Oliveira. Tennis Recruiting Network lists here as not rated - from Bradenton, Fla.

 

Would love to hear more on this, but she’s only played a few matches and seemingly done ok in them against top competition. She’s 2-2 against five star and blue chip players and 5-2 overall Her UTR is only 10, but I assume it’s because she’s only played 7 matches. I am not a Roland defender and others may know more, but on the surface this doesn’t seem like the worst flyer we have taken.

Her older sister, Sara, was very good when she was younger but I think she suffered an injury. She is currently playing at Colgate.

Checked out Emily's UTR history. She played a number of tournaments in 2019. Beat some good players and lost to some good players. Then COVID hit in early 2020.

Women's team got a very good commitment over the weekend

 

these are the kinds of recruits we have been missing out on the last few years, top 10 US high school talent. A welcome surprise and hopefully a harbinger of a renewe focus coming.

I honestly think that Stricklin must have told Roland that if he wants to coast on his three national titles he can do it somewhere else. It’s clear that there’s a renewed focus on cleaning up the issues with the program. We have a full roster, we landed a top 10 recruit again finally…it’s like it’s 2011 again.

 

Nice to see that the Tennis Recruiting Network now has her as a verbal. And Ethan Quinn, #1 men's player in CA and #3 in US has us listed as one of his choices of schools - high interest.

Well, well, well. Give credit where credit is due. After ripping on the WBK team tonight about lack of effort I must congratulate Roland for showing relentless effort on the recruiting trail this off season. We back baby!

Roland apparently putting in work on the recruiting trail. Flips #1 2023 recruit from Pepperdine and convinces her to be a Gator.
