Aside from "all of them". Some that come to mind are the 1984 game, we finally beat them and SOUNDLY after years of frustration. 1990, SOS served notice! The Zeier game in jax in the rain. The twin beatdowns in the swamp and between the hedges with half a hundred each time. Tebow and co demolishing them.
1984...my first in person Uf vs uga game...great experience..back then fans in stadium were seated in quarters...loved that game
I would say the 1993 game is my favorite if pressed to pick one (and it was the Lott game thank you very much.) Had to wade into the stadium and watch much of the first quarter from one of the tunnels because people couldn't get in. Then to see uga presumably able to tie the game with a TD with seconds left, only to be saved by the Anthone Lott time out. But oh there's more... That was followed by what looked to be uga's last play TD pass attempt being caught out of bounds ending the game. Whew. WAITWHAT?? PASS INTERFERENCE ON THE GATORS??.. one more shot for an uga TD pass attempt which mercifully fell to the ground. Man, that was just nuts. Couldn't find an uga fan at the landing. Bought myself some dry sneakers though and partied soaking wet!
2002 - This one solidified UF owning real estate in every UGA fans head. I have UGA buddies, who were iffy playing UF in 2017 and 2021, when we were severely outmatched, and I really think it stems from that 02 game. 1995 - it was awesome going to Athens, I remember sliding down a few hills on cardboard pregame, and got a nice pic with the UGA cheerleaders. A smile that didn't fade for at least a month. That was back when the windbreaker matching top and bottom with a jersey underneath were my go to GameDay attire, I was 7 in 1995. 2008 - after what happened in 07, the timeouts to let it sink in. I got back to my room in time to see Crabtree beat Texas the same night I believe? It was one of those BIG big 12 games.
Agree with 2002. Georgia was never more high under Mark Richt, and Florida was never more low under Zook (we really didn’t know how much worse things could actually get). I went to the San DieGo Gators! (Get it?) Club with my Marine Corps Gator buddies. A whole group of Georgia fans showed up, took a table, and openly declared they were there to enjoy watching Gator fans self-loathe in their inevitable loss. I enjoyed watching them skulk off about as much as anything else in my life. Would that we could have that kind of game again this year.
Kerwin throwing to Nattiel and hitting him on a dead run for a long TD - best pass in Gator history. And, this after stopping UGA inside the five yard line.
'84 would probably be the one, of course the Swamp win being right up there. 2014 was particularly nice as they were heavy favorites, but couldn't stop our ground game as we had 2 backs nearly get 200 yards each and finished with nearly 450 yards rushing. I think that was the game where listening to 2 pups talk about it's not whether or not they would win, but by how much and leap frog scUM in the polls. I went to all from '79 to 2016, except the game in Athens. Damn those '80s were tough! I used to hang with a cousin and his buddies from georgia for the 80s game, but for some reason, they stopped coming after the '92 game.
08 for me. I became a fan in the early 90s, so I took it for granted. tenn & fsu were higher on the priority list. 07 woke me up tho. And I had a boss that was a uga fan... so I had to hear it for 364 days
1977 - revenge for 4th and dumb the year before. 2003 - The Zookers upset #4 uga by holding them to 0-for on third down conversions (IIRC). 1995 - someone already mentioned hanging half a hundred between the hedges. I was watching in Colorado with my BIL and his friend’s house. They got bored watching the blowout but out of consideration for the out of town guest, they kept the game on. It was so enjoyable.
Definitely 1994 in the swamp. I lived in Brooksville at the time and down there each fall was a charity football kickoff event for college fans. At it I won a live auction for FSU Duke tix at about $15 per ticket. Hey, college football games are fun, right, and with family in Panama City we had free lodging lined up. Then UF UGA tix came up for auction. I had to get them and set my budget at $250. Kept in the fray until I went well past my target because my boss was bidding against me. Lost the bid and was dog fussing about my boss to his dad (the CEO) when the boss walked up and said congrats on being a dad for the first time in a few months. Here are the tix you wanted so bad. That was an embarrassing and wonderful surprise. And Spurdog certainly held up his end of the deal for me. Post script. That was a whirlwind day of college football. Left PC in the morning for a noon FSU-Duke game, left tally in the third qtr, hit Hogtown and loved being part of Gator history in the Swamp that night. Didn’t realize the all the tix I scored at the football kickoff were for the same day when I pursued them. Still my fav in-person college football day yet.
I was at the 94 game in the swamp too. Loved it from start to finish. We cannot beat uga too many times, nor by too many points.
Agreed....for me followed by the 1990 win. We were coming off a 3 game losing streak to agonizingly average Georgia teams and even though we appeared to be the better team we had a rep of going up to Jax with better teams and finding a way to lose to UGA. I'll admit I was nervous for almost the whole game even though we beat them handily.
I called my good friend who is a Georgia fan at the beginning of the 4th qtr in the 1990 game: “Hey! They just treated the Georgia punter for dehydration!” I said “Oh shut up!” He said hanging up lol
Yeah, that 1984 game was something else. Spurrier putting up a half a hungee was spectacular. Unfortunately, every time I went to Jax we lost. That was a tad earlier during the Hershel days. Go Gators. Beat the Dawgs!
