So any of those kids even know who Jimmy Johnson is? And the last time Miami had a Hall of famer was the last time Miami was relevant and that was before their team was even born.

One seventh round draft choice last year.

    Ruiz is an ass.

And yes, I used to be good looking 25 years ago.

Asking for a friend, what exactly is a zero technique DT and do we have any on the roster?

Zero technique DT is a NoseTackle that is responsible for defending both gaps between the center and the guard. And i would assume the only one right now that we have is Big Dez. Thought he played more than. 2% though.

That’s exactly what I was thinking. Dez has played a ton of snaps this year. I was confused by this

I think Dez has usually lined up on either side, gap, of the center, not directly in front of the center.

Dez has played a bunch, and if we have a zero technique DT he is it, but I don’t think that is what he has been playing.

a 0 technique DT basically lines up over the center. he is responsible for both holes on each side of the center. often he will be subject to a combo block, where the center and one of the guards will engage him and attempt to drive him backwards or to the side (opening a wide hole). in instances where the combo is designed to drive the DT backwards, the guard engages for half a second and works his way to the linebacker for engagement.

a 0 techniques job is not to be a leading tackler. his job is to clean up the blockers and allow the linebackers to operate freely. currently i don't believe we have a legitimate 0 technique on our roster who can either hold the point of attack at the line of scrimmage, nor push the pocket on passing situations.

    edit:

a 0 tech is associated with a 3-4 base defense. we currently just don't have the personnel for this, mainly due to our defensive ends. in a true 3-4, you want big defensive ends (2 tech and 6 tech). u want these ends to be huge as well, like 6'4 290lbs (see our kelby collins, kamran james, searcy)

i would hope so, but i just don't know about #9. bad pad level, lacks leverage, rarely whoops people in one-on-one matchups, hands aren't violent, etc...
