Change the SYG laws so that someone can't legally shot me for "helping", and I might be more interested in helping.

I have, got handcuffed for pulling a chain saw on a guy beating his wife and pulled a knife on me. What I didn't do is knock him down and put that big bow saw to his throat. It could have decapited him in a split second like the firefighter could have snapped that guys neck in a second. If I was holding him to the ground about to kill him then maybe the cop would have shot me

    Give me a break!!!

BTW I have mentioned here a few times on too hot about the one night in my life I spent in jail. The year was 1973 my wife and I were driving past the Drift Inn on Bradenton Beach. I heard a girl screaming in the parking lot. She was getting beat by her boyfriend. I jumped out of the car and told my wife to go get the cops. The guy had the girl by her shirt collar with his hand back ready to swing when I got there. I grabbed his arm and said "Don't hit her again". He turned loose of her and hit me. I was an ex High School wrestler and it was nothing for me to slam him on the ground and hold him until my wife got back with the Police. They arrested both of us.

The next day in court the judge gave the cop a tongue lashing for not taking the time to get the story straight then sort of apologized to me saying. "Son you only did two things wrong, 1. Being out driving around at 1AM and 2. Cruising down Bridge Street where all the bars are at that time of night."

Now the big question, would I do it again in the same situation? You're damn straight I would. You never know I could have kept that girl from being hurt bad or worse that night.

Good thing you did to help her of course.

If Taylor was beating the cashier like the guy was beating the girl in your situation, I think almost everyone would support him being stopped even if it meant using force. It seems like there would be a separate charge if Taylor had verbally assaulted her or was hitting her; I only read about the gun possession charge to this point at least. Also, I don't know when Santi first learned that Taylor had a gun. Much different analysis to me there in terms of how much risk I would expect a good samaritan to take everything else being equal.
