I look at it as Mullen came in and repainted and put in new flooring. Sure it looked nice but the substructure was still crap and it wasn't sustainable. I think BN is gutting the place. It's going to be ugly for a bit.

I absolutely feel we have the right guy at the helm and understand there are weaknesses in the team that will take time to address. It certainly feels like a step backwards for the defense, which is disappointing. Hope that is just where we had to go to get better and not an indicator for the future. Recruiting on that side of the ball is very promising.

If we keep this defensive class together I think we will show improvement next year and by ear three it will be very significant

We'll need transfers to improve our D for 2023...The current class will be more ready to help in a meaningful way their 2nd year.

This is true and I also think we get a few big transfers….however….we have some Day 1 starters coming in.

From UGA to the end of the season, everybody should be rotated in. Get everyone game experience, if it means we burn a few redshirts so be it.

I know, right. I'm all in with Napier too, but Gator fans have had more than enough "adversity" in football.

Having said that, I do think Napier will get our football program back on track... and it all starts with the 2023 recruiting class.

Does this mean that eventually Vanderbilt will win multiple sec/national titles?

All things are in place rather nicely for an epic recruiting run, certainly compared to the past- if we're top 5!? Who's your daddy? Snag a few in the portal and suddenly the personnel is in position. Then develop the ba-Jesus out of them.

With all those incoming pearls someone's got to be game-ready next year-prolly a handful. Add in the raw kids from this year. Napier's building the dream.

This weekend if we can sack Bennett 2 or 3 times and run for three hungee that'd be nice. I remember it wasn't that many years ago-I think we rushed for like 400 yards against the Dawgs in a win. Might of been Richt's last year. We have the stable full. Love to see Lingard come alive with Johnson and Etienne. If AR can knock off a hundred...suddenly a respectable showing is possible.

I just had my double-espresso so anything seems possible. If only I had a donut I'd be ready to pad up!

    Beat Georgia!:eek::p:cool:

    Go Gators.:D

Coaches who are masters at BOTH Xs and Os AND Jimmys and Joes are exceedingly rare.

Xs and Os guys shine right off the bat and then fade (Mullen and Mac)

Jimmys and Joes guys take time to shine. But then the shine lasts much longer and is more sustainable (Saban, Dabo, Meyer).

    Patience is the key here.

    Hi malscott -
UF will need to play turnover free and light on the penalties. Obviously your point about running the rock effectively will be key to any chance at victory.

As much as I dislike UGA it is a fact that the road to victory is very narrow. UF will need turnovers and must play reasonably decent defense.

It would be nice to see the team hit on all cylinders the first time this year.

    It's a Supreme challenge.

The UAA needs to take charge of sustainability. It should be painfully obvious that they haven't, leaving it to a carousel of coaches of the moment. No Fortune 500 company would do that and neither should a professional UAA.

Well, hang on, because it will get uglier! Dooley (who I rarely agree with) thinks we will loose all the games ahead except Vandy, and he's not sure about even that game (and I get it). We play up or down according to our competition. With the exception of Georgia, I think every game left is a 50/50. If we lose most of our games on the schedule that SHOULD cause adversity with the team! However, if it causes adversity with fans that will be because we doubted most prognosticators who predicted a lackluster season.

I was there for that one. Neal got ejected for blowing up a puppy. I could hear it in my seat.
