I’ve been watching these guys recruiting process. This is why I created this thread. I feel the same way both of these guys could tip the scales for our defense in this recruiting class. So much so that it could lead to several years of defensive recruiting success.
Very possible but without being a pessimist I've learned to temper my expectations over the years for many reasons. Hopefully times have changed and I believe they have with the new staff but we were told so many times before how well we were trending with a number of recruits in the past like Leatherwood,Tim Smith, Perkins etc only to be disappointed that I will have to wait and see before I get excited.
Honestly? I think we are on the outside looking in. But our recruiting has been on point and it wouldn’t surprise me. If Cormani commits that might just be enough to sway both smith and Russaw
You know at the beginning of the season, I wanted to see a 10-1 defense. Sadly, I probably won’t see it in my lifetime.
I'm not going to get discouraged because relationships are still being built with HS players, coaches, etc. I'm interested to see if we fill our our class well, sign well, maybe even with some positive surprises, and JUCO and portal filling any misses with contributors. Now if NIL becomes a bigger monkey wrench and derails our signings then that's a whole other story.
That's bold. I prefer 13 men on the goal line. Hope when you take the penalty the ref doesn't count as you send one off.
We do look like crap on defense a lot but Tenn beat Bama and lsu beat ole piss. Maybe we aren’t that far off from being pretty decent. It doesn’t take but a guy or two to completely change a defense. We get some pass rush without having to blitz ans one or two guys in the back end doing their job consistently and who knows. Maybe our losses were to decent teams.
We are one class a way from decent. But we are 2-3 away from having the depth and talent on defense from being elite.
This is true. If you take Trey Dean off the team we might actually be undefeated or one loss (Kentucky)
Watching LSU yesterday has solidified my feeling that we are a pretty good team right now that plays hard to the final whistle. I never go into a game thinking we have no chance but Georgia is going to be a daunting task. Beyond that, we have a fighting chance to close on a 4 game winning streak. No game will be easy for this team, but if we finish strong it might help get us a few more recruits that are waiting until last minute to commit. I hope for positivity from our players AND fans. We have nothing to lose by standing with our guy Napier for the rest of this season and a couple of more before we start with the negativity.
This year is a great illustration how a few plays, a few stops, a few turnovers, a few players - are the difference between winning and losing. The best thing we have going for us is chemistry and tenacity. I just hope we make a bowl game. The practice and experience will go a long way.
