Thinking about making carnitas tomorrow. The only bad thing is that it makes a huge mess to clean up. The good thing is that it is awesomely good.
Sunday sauce was a success. Plenty of meatballs, sausage and pork to feed the 6 of us …and then some. Also made eggplant parm, which was outstanding and no one was expecting it. Add in a tossed salad, the garlic bread and a couple glasses of cab and I was at the gateway between just being full and almost miserable. BUT, I’ll be ready again tonight because there is more than enough leftovers.
I recently bought a top of the line Bosch dishwasher. 800 series. It was pricey but it does a fantastic job. One of the cords for springloading the door broke, though. I should check to see if it still under warranty.
We have a Bosch dishwasher, washer and dryer. We got to know about them from living in Europe every summer. They’re really good and reliable
Thought about Miele but getting service might be hard. We have a Fisher Paykel washer and it is great and a Speed Queen commercial dryer.
Tonight I’ll be grilling chicken halves seasoned with coarse black pepper and Everglades Cactus Dust. Pat’s Homade on the last two turns. Baked potatoes will be on the top rack. Inside we’ve got a freshly steamed head of green cabbage to go with. Beautiful day here today-37* low and 79* for our high. The back porch is open, restocked, and ready to go. The Italian bonanza the last 2 days is making me fat …DAMN IT! Or …it is at least making feel that way. I took a 4 mile walk. Then when I got home, set up the mulch kit on the lawn tractor …and grinded up the leaves for 2 hours. .I was whooped … I told the Mrs & MIL …it is salad tonight! I grilled 3, 4oz chicken breasts and a 1.6 lbs London broil to give them options. And they were not displeased. It was a win
Ribs wll be done soon. Using Cowboy brand lump for my last two smokes because Lowe's was out of Royal Oak and B&B and those were two brands I was used to using. I have got say that at least the bag I bought is really good.
Tonight falls under simple but good for us. I’m grilling cheeseburgers and Ms. Jan is making homemade French fries. We’re going with baby Swiss cheese tonight. Really low key weekend for football in my book—I’ll probably just check scores and watch the AL and NL playoffs. The longnecks are ice cold and Ms. Jan’s wine is chilled. Took a half day trip to the north side of Lake George, with Mrs Scooter, my MIL and my wife’s uncle. The foliage is on the back side of peak but a nice drive anyway. My In-laws owned a cottage up there back in the early 70s, less than a 100 ft from the water, and sold it in ‘74 after they had their 3rd child, my SIL, … for 34k. I’m sure it is worth 40x that amount now. UGHHHH!!! Anyhow, walked up and down the Main St in Bolton’s Landing. Though some businesses were closed, since out of season, there were enough antique & boutique shops to keep us occupied for an hour & a half. No books (my thing) that I wanted and luckily nothing my wife wanted either. We ended up eating at Fredrick’s for a nice late lunch. She had the SW chicken salad and I went with Turkey/bacon club, which I could not finish …and brought it home and it became my dinner. Same with everyone else. So, no frills tonight in the kitchen …but temps were in the mid 60s …and we enjoyed the leftovers… and cocktails on the screen porch afterwards. Which is a blessing, because those days are numbered before winter starts to set in. Weird not watching CFB on a Saturday in the Fall. I hate Bye weeks. Cheers fellas!
Tonight I’ll be grilling bone-in country cut ribs indirect over cherry wood smoke seasoned with coarse black pepper and Everglades seasoning. Inside we will have a pot of fresh pinkeye peas with snaps and pod okra with a pot of white rice topped with Rotel tomatoes. The back porch is open and ready for our relaxation. Ms. Jan said that she wants Moscow Mules this afternoon/evening so I will probably go with Kentucky Mules. Life is good in Gator Nation!
Aloha bruddahs! Just dropped in to ask if there was a MLB thread on the playoffs here somewhere I didn't see. Seems like there'd be enough interest - but maybe not. I only tune in when the playoffs start and even then I don't keep up 100%. It will never be like it was before they cancelled the post season in '94. After that I lost interest. But - I did see the last 3 innings of the Phillies win over San Diego today. Kinda exciting and I enjoyed it. Been at my Mom's all day installing new flooring - the HD Lifeproof LVP. Never done it before but not too hard. I have 2 more rooms to go. Her house got a couple inches of flood water so all flooring being replaced - by me! Good to see the thread still in good hands. Cheers & GO Gators! Baz
I will start a World Series thread anyway. Most likely it will be the Stros vs. Phillies. I have an older brother who lived in the city of brotherly love for quite a while and is a big Phillies fan!
Tonight was creamy Tuscan chicken soup… with chicken thighs, artichoke hearts and sun dried tomatoes. Made a classic cucumber & tomato salad as a side. And had a fresh baguette to go along. Delicious.
