The school board didn't send out any invitations to the event. I recommend not getting your "facts" from Republican loons. Even the Republican news sources were careful not to make that claim:
California school board bashed over Halloween party featuring drag queen show
The racy party wasn’t hosted or endorsed by the public school district, but it was included on Peachjar, an “optional information hub containing community events and opportunities for families in the district,” education officials told KGTV.
    -------------------------------------------------------------
I won't even get into the stupid bile that came out of her mouth (trying to connect drag shows to child porn and trafficking).

DeSantis has a great point. All Musk did was ask Ukraine to cede some of its country to Russia. What’s wrong with that?

My reaction is a joke, but, apparently, Musk suggested that Ukraine cede territory to Russia. Musk also now wants to get paid for the services it has been providing for free to Ukraine.

Per Fiona Hill Musk was delivering a message for Putin.

Why does DeSantis feel the need to opine on that?

Because he’s playing to that. It’s an indefensible statement

Elon Musk is now popular with right-wingers. There's nothing principled about DeSantis. Like Trump, his entire brand of politics can be boiled down to "owning the libs."

The tricky thing is that this isn't DeSantis' entire brand of politics. He is more pragmatic and more moderate in his conservatism. Unfortunately this persona he has adopted over the last two years is the path he has seen to the White House and he is perfectly willing to do what it takes to get there. Once he is in the White House, will he revert to what we saw at the beginning of his governorship, or will he have a tiger by the tail and will continue the Trumpist politicking that got him there?

DeSantis is a nasty, petty, angry divider.

He is playing the role of one very well. But this isn't how he campaigned for governor of Florida, or how he governed for the first year. It wasn't until he saw an opportunity to win the presidency in the Trump lane that he took on this persona.

His fellow students said that he was a mean, nasty person in college. We saw on TV how he treated the kids who were wearing masks. That was the real DeSantis.

Musk’s company should be compensated for the services they are providing to Ukraine. That ask isn’t unreasonable at all. It should go without saying the EU and the U.S. pay. It actually turns out they do (Musk made it seem like they were doing it 100% at their expense ), though I have no idea if they are being made whole for Starlink.

Unfortunately Musk the person didn’t approach it correctly. Rather than simply asking for due compensation the whole episode reeked of “look at me, look at me” type sociopathy.

This thing just keeps getting worse. DeSantis's people paid a migrant who is not legally allowed to work in the United States right now to help round up asylum seekers for his Martha's Vineyard stunt. Talk about hypocrisy.
    https://www.miamiherald.com/news/politics-government/article267445097.html
A Venezuelan migrant unable to legally work in the United States was paid to help coordinate Gov. Ron DeSantis’ migrant flight program, putting the Republican governor’s high-profile political gambit in conflict with his long-standing push to crack down on undocumented labor.

The migrant, a 27-year-old named Emmanuel, told the Miami Herald he helped find passengers to fill planes that DeSantis wanted to send from Texas to Democratic strongholds in northern states. He was recruited by Perla Huerta, a 43-year-old former U.S. Army counterintelligence agent working for Vertol Systems Company — which has been paid more than $1.5 million by the DeSantis administration to execute the operation.

Emmanuel ended up receiving three cash payments totaling $700 from Huerta for his work on behalf of DeSantis’ relocation program, he told the Miami Herald. Text messages reviewed by the Herald corroborate his account.

GOP Voters don’t care about any of this. That the trip was implemented corruptly doesn’t matter. All that matters to them is their hatred for immigrants and the immigrants effort to dump them in a liberal area that was not expecting them.

I doesn’t matter because the mid term vote will be under the new map and this will not be decided for years. I wager not even before the 2024 election. Because I’m Florida, preserving the status quo includes preserving illegal acts.

Asylumn seekers can work legally. Put national worker shortage has been contributed to by the Trump Administration policy of refusing entry at the border. Remember that a court order required Biden to continue that for a time. Win win for the GOP. It appeals to the base of migrant hating bigots who think these people are illegal, and promotes the wage and therefore economy inflation that is driving voters to them.

Well. That is a crime. I am sure that DeSantis was insulated from these operational details
