Anyone can get a card if they go through the process. I was checking out a new dispensary yesterday and found out you can now get MM from an inhaler. Pretty neat huh? Everything You Need to Know About Cannabis Inhalers | DOC MJ
The fees are appointments are pretty expensive though. A lot of people who supported recreational marijuana opposed the medical marijuana route because they thought it'd delay ultimate legalization for all. What we have now is just a way for people with a little bit of money to have a doctor sign off while we still arrest people who don't get the card. I've never heard of anyone getting denied if they pay. It's really stupid IMO. Interestingly, there were prescriptions for alcohol during prohibition.
The whole thing is a front for recreational use. I’m sure there are some legitimate medical users but it’s probably a tiny minority. But that’s the way it’s been everywhere. Open it for ‘medical’ wink-wink, and when the general population realizes that it won’t cause the end of times, it gets approved for recreational. I remember walking around Venice Beach 10 years ago and they had kids on skateboards wearing scrubs with big pot leaves on the back, and the caption ‘The Doctor is In’. I went in to see the doc, I said I had an ouchy, he made me cough, gave me a script and I walked out with medical card that had a tie dye background. It was all a big joke. Unfortunately with our local politics, we might have to wait for the Feds to drop this charade and just legalize it everywhere.
Never seen any flower above 20% in Florida dispensaries. I rarely buy anything less than 30% here in Illinois.
