Unfortunately not going to jail today, sentence is stayed while the appeal goes through. Bit of a joke really.
It was a misdemeanor, so this was expected. The “mandatory” was only 30 days. If I understand correctly the “max” was 2 years, but nobody expected that. Would have been nice to see this scumbag hauled off though considering he showed zero remorse and contempt for the process. Should have gotten max sentence and appeal from there.
He testified more than anyone else in the Trump admin - Steven Bannon - Well that's a REALLY low bar!
Anyone listening to this fool? OMG waste of oxygen. This is the guy that wants the president to be like a King. Only if Trump is prez of course.
I don't do criminal law. I suppose he had to post a bond to get out during appeal? I just think of all of the people who sit in jail who haven't even been convicted - much less sentenced.
The sentence is astonishing really. The judicial system absolutely depends upon two things: a witness showing up and then testifying truthfully. For this judge to essentially slap Bannon on the wrist is an outrage. (Imagine the outrage from some quarters had the defendant been Hillary and she had received such a sentence.)
Hell, if Bannon only got 4 months, I should get at least 10 years for how I feel about the human garbage that call themselves Congress. The saying about them being the opposite of Progress has never been truer.
I'd be cool with any kind of jail time at this point, but It seems like these cases never end. Just keep appealing it seems till u get a friendlier judge. I guess he will now blame it all on bad advice from his lawyer.
Yeah, this seems like BS to me. You can't "bail out" of your sentence. Once you are sentenced, you go to jail and can start working on appeals from there. Ridiculous. Hopefully he also has to pay legal fees, otherwise that $6.5 k fine is a total joke.
The lack of remorse and fundraising off of it should have made it much worse. Not sure one size fits all is the answer
