My maternal grandparents came to Canada as kids in the 1800s. My mother said they originally lived in Moldova, or Rumania, or a couple of other countries depending on where the troops were that day
Lofton at the 2? Bonham at the point? Or the other way around? Niels Lane in the starting five? Interesting! I was not expecting that to be the first five. Being the eternal optimist, I'll assume that both Lofton and Bonham look too good to not be in the first group, and that Lane picked up where he left off at the end of last season and has even improved since then. But I agree, I think we'll see a good number of different first fives this season. CC, unless he gets hurt, may be the only one that is concreted with #4 steel rebar into the group.
From everything I’ve read, dude can shoot the three, but need to work on his inside game. Perfect position for him to learn from Castleton. If y’all haven’t seen this. Dude is Polish and is a really likable kid. Aleks Szymczyk Press Conference 10-11-22
Loved that. It's a really good sign that he didn't start playing basketball until he was 16; his skills are tremendously advanced for someone with so little experience. And he's got an SEC body already, even though he says he needs to bulk up.
I think the biggest issue with the foreign players isn't their lack of athleticism, it is realizing that the American game is a contact sport and not a game of chess. It takes time to adjust, and sometimes they don't make it. I know this is mainly revisionist, but I would say that is what happened with Dreijer. He saw his goal of playing in the NBA seriously damaged and decided to take the expedient route by signing QUICKLY with a European team.
thanks for posting this. His hands are huge! He seems to be all in and excited and know he needs to get stronger. I love what CTG has brought to us through recruiting. Just unleashing this group on any D1 team, there is going to be so much depth that we can keep guys fresh and force them out of their style of play, due to guys they haven’t seen before, both size and skills. I know it takes some time to get to know what these guys do best under pressure and to get the right players in any situation. It’s going to be fun and exciting to see them grow as the season is get closer to tournament time. Kentucky, Alabama, Arkansas, Tennessee all have tough teams coming our way, not to mentioned the preseason tournaments and early scheduling. We are going to get some knocks, but I hope we dish them out and are competitive every game! Not to far off, I’m ready! Go Gators….
I'm hearing CC will start at the point! Jit at the 2 ... . Going the Golden State offense this year. Unblockable perimeter shooting.
There’s some truth to that. CTG has said that CC’s dribbling ability surprised him for as big as he is. Also, all of his teammates are surprised to see how good his range is this year. That was something that wasn’t there last year. And Jit hit two threes the other day in their full scrimmage.
That is indeed a wonderful interview. I've always valued our international players. I'll throw Al and Noah in on that too. A certain perspective and broad outlook.
