My girlfriends kids (her sister's kids, live down the road from her and they came over all the time when I was there) told us everything from when they were in elementary school to high school.

So, that "shit" is as good as first hand information as I can get on that opinion of today's teachers. That and all my years of experience in school.

But please don't rented not to know that teachers are mostly liberals. You're retort so disingenuous that it reeks of overt ignorance.

While things like abortion are primarily Christian related, The don’t say gay thing is more of a cultural thing. I know people who aren’t religious who also get caught up in it.

Gator40 just doled out a rash of disagrees to my posts in this thread. He’s either in a foul mood filled with his usual hate or he went to public school too.

I have read this thread with great interest but have avoided any comments as it's been many decades since I or my children were in school. We all were in public schools, all did well, all went to college.

I write this because I'm disturbed by the repeated use of the derogatory term "libbie", and by the absence of any examples of what 'libbie" teachers are supposedly saying or doing in the classrooms that amounts to liberal propaganda. I would also note that liberals have played an important role throughout our history, as have conservatives.

It seems to me that we have gone from vigorous disagreements over policy to demonizing and ridiculing. I've been guilty of it by calling Trump supporter various names, such as "Trumpanzees". I've made a pledge with myself to stop it and to try to be more respectful. (Here's hoping I succeed!) I wish some of you would stop with the "libbie" and other derogatory terms and recognize mainstream liberal thought and policies as essential to the national discourse. Liberals are loyal Americans. They are not your enemy.

How can you say that libbies are loyal Americans? That is very much up for debate.
    Too soon?

Don't forget the "drug dealers are giving your kids massive amounts of free fentanyl" on Halloween, as long as we are on moral panics today

As Rick said, "you earned it" now go wear that badge on your forehead. :D

And are you tattle taling on me? The teacher won't be happy. We then won't discuss your plethora of come on mans and disagrees you handed out to people. The hypocrite in you will be fine I'm sure.

I worked at a private school and what another poster said about the teachers being from public schools is true, many do go back and forth and many do not believe in the private school "values" but are good teachers that get hired and teach your children regardless. You hit that poster with a disagree when you were wrong. Don't be mad about the turnabout.

This is also very true. They don't have to follow state guidelines for hiring and thus you get a higher quantity of low quality teachers who couldn't pass the state threshold to be a public school teacher, which is much higher than private. Usually the better teachers at private schools were public school teachers.

I’m not here to shat on any other private schools. And I won’t divulge where one of my kids go, but I think most would agree it’s a fine school. We are very lucky to be here, and on the wait list my other kids.

That's interesting to me as an agnostic because I think there are decent secular arguments that can be made to support a generally pro life position, particularly weeks or months into a pregnancy. Many pro life folks will even forgo religious arguments to have the debate. But peoples' opposition to homosexuality seems mostly religious to me. Others on here have argued that many people who simply don't like homosexuality use religion as an excuse to discriminate or be bigoted. Maybe they're right, and I'm wrong, but I think religion is the primary driver when it comes to issues involving sex and sexuality. Do they really have a good reason to care about what other consenting adults are doing in bed if they didn't think it angered God? I dunno.

Wow, that's a new one. Are you seriously suggesting they aren't? If so, what have they done that suggests disloyalty?

So, because there are a few that cross the line, we have to have a law that puts every teacher on offense because of how what they say may be interpreted. Go complain to the principal if you have an issue with a teacher. I have.

Some things just need to be handled on a case by case basis.
