Biden: Strategic oil reserve release ‘not politically motivated at all’, right. and his promise to do whatever it takes to re-instate abortion if the democrats have control is also not politically motivated, what a crock.
If anyone thinks the release of oil from the SPR does not have political implications I have some ocean front property in Oklahoma to sell you.
get rid of it! problem solved. In the spirit of compromise, if we keep the SPR, make filling & releasing rules based, not discretionary.
Everything a politician does is political. And yet they can't call anything they do politically motivated.
is it political to try and keep the market supplied so that the price of oil doesn't go higher and cause inflation to go even higher? He is using the tools at hand to try and stifle inflation, is that political or is that leadership?
He's trying to get Democrats elected by temporarily bringing down oil prices just before an election.
That is secondary. This kind of gives away the game: https://www.cnbc.com/2022/10/13/bid...-postpone-opec-cut-by-a-month-saudis-say.html Now... what exactly could be happening in a month?
So you would agree that DeSantis holding gas tax break the month before the election was a stricly politicalove?
I mean, either they both are or they both aren't take your pick. I also don't think that's quite the same thing considering that the Biden Administration basically threatened the Saudis if they would not go along with their little political stunt. Biden was willing to damage relations with a US ally just to get a political win rather than an American win.
I think it probably was and DeSantis should have played it better and did it months ago when gas was higher. They would also have given high prices right before the election which likely would have been more hurtful for Biden… Just wait though oil and gas will go back up this winter regardless of Biden pissing away the SPR.
This is laughable. Is Biden really using all of the "tools" he has to bring down the price of oil? If you remember once elected Biden took a lot of those tools out of the toolbox. So yes, this is a short term politically motivated stunt by Biden because every voter sees the price of gas every day. There are plenty of other things Biden could do to help lower the price of oil and "control inflation" but he's not doing them.
Political? Are just Democrats getting the benefit? Nope. Trump’s tax cuts were an example of a political move. Benefited the Republican constituents mostly. The denial of Hurricane Sandy benefits to the northeast by the republicans. That was political. Congressmen claiming they voted for a bill when they voted against it but voted for a failed amendment is political. Changing Supreme Court nomination rules to keep a president from constitutionally appointing a Judge is political.
I just came here to see all the liberals who condemned Trump for doing this in '19 condemn Biden. Or the conservatives who defended Trump for just "keeping the marked well supplied" defend Biden. Although the conservatives have a little wiggle room. Trump was supplying the oil to replace the drop in SA due to drone attacks. Biden is reading polls and panicking. Regardless, both used the strategic petroleum reserve for political, not emergency, purposes. If you have any integrity, it is either wrong or it is not.
Never forget that Chuck Schumer and Senate Democrats blocked Trump from refilling our Strategic Petroleum Reserve when it was $24/barrel.
Trump was impeached twice, although they certainly weren't "witch hunts." Do you know what the word means?
