That’s ridiculous, imho, and you should eat some bacon for it. It was one game, a bowl game, where they abandoned him and he was forced to play with a new crew, and he could have but didn’t opt out on his team. Yes, they were uber talented but Kyle Trask greatly helped those guys be elite too, someone had to get the ball to them. The only thing AR is better at right now is running the football, period. Kyle was clearly better at reading defenses, decision making and passing the football. That could change in the future though, we’ll see.
lol, I didn't post it so I'd win a popularity contest, so I'm fine with that. Trask was in an incredibly advantageous position. He was a very good QB for us and miles ahead of Franks. He earned a 1st round pick. But he had riches that AR has never seen. Trask never had to make a lot of progressions. Maybe he's as good or better than AR at it, but he never really had to. And we only saw him once without those weapons. AR is in an incredibly disadvantageous situation. Our best WR is a transfer who's ... well, not the caliber of WR we had in 2020. I didn't say Anthony was a better quarterback than Trask. I said, simply, that he's better at running his progressions. I believe that.
Considering other guys who switch to TE, it wouldn't surprise me if that happened years down the road. However, it is WAAAAAAYYYY too early to say that. Richardson is too good at QB and shows way too much promise to make that move now. Richardson can positively impact a game for Florida far more at QB than at TE. It really doesn't make any sense to make that move now. It doesn't make financial sense for Richardson right now, and it doesn't make Xs and Os sense right now.
Needs more finesse on his throws. Too much heat has led to a lot of otherwise catchable passes. Trask was an exceptional passer and great at reading the field. AR could be a true dual threat if they let him.
Why are you making a suggestion that would only allow AR to be on the field for perhaps three games a year?? I mean one of the complaints I read on here about AR is he slides too much to avoid contact and that is via coaching. If he moved to TE he won't be sliding. How long do you think he would last?? My over under would be playing perhaps three games per year. He is best off being coached up at QB. Pitts would get rocked and get right back up. I just don't see AR doing that.
There are times when it almost feels to me as if AR is in Emory 2.0 mode, as in he predetermines the throw presnap but may sometimes look like he's going through a progression. AR, however, won't turn every route into a hitch with his throws like Emory tended to do last year. AR is such a rare combination of arm strength and athletic ability that I think you have to give him time to develop as a qb. I do think AR is improving, but he's nowhere near as consistent going through progressions yet as Trask was. I will say AR can and has made some throws that Trask could not. That arm and quick release are freakish. The accuracy issue that pops up every now and then is more of a mental issue IMO.
Which would have been a good move by like his 3rd QB gig in the NFL where the writing was on the wall. He waited too long. Richardson is in his first year as a full-time starter in college, and people were talking about how he had first round potential as a QB like 6 weeks ago. Maybe this makes sense down the road for AR. No way does it make sense right now. Doesn't make sense for AR and it doesn't make sense for the Florida Gators.
Gator fans like us may see Pitts and Toney as "generational" talents, but in the NFL they have proven to be relative duds. at this point, nobody has covered themselves with glory in the Big Leagues from the Mullen offense. Mullen's best NFL player on offense is ... Evan McPherson?
Makes his progressions better. One small aspect of being a QB, but an important one. Let me stop you. Both are in their second years. Pitts became the second TE ever to get 1k yards in his rookie year, after Ditka. He went to the Pro Bowl. In an injury hampered season, Toney was the #2 receiver on his team. "Relative duds?" Really?
Every time I see this offense - still statistically one of the most successful in the last twenty years - struggle, I remind myself it could be worse. We could be saddled with "relative duds" like Kyle Pitts and Kadarius Toney
The above mentioned QBs have better receivers to work with, and neither are in their first years as starters.
