A guy with 6 TD passes and 7 INT’s is better than the current Heisman leader?

    Bartender, I’ll have what he’s having![/QUOTE]

Quarterback play means so much in college and hooker is aces right now. AR’s turnovers are killers. He must clean that up.

I am not sure he has had killer TOs since Kentucky and Tennessee. But yes, if he isn't fabulous, the defense isn't going to win any games anytime soon.

I have always said, we will never win the SEC as a running team. Right now we are a fish out of water. Everyone in the SEC can throw the ball consistently enough to beat Florida. Billy needs to hire a real OC and DC who have positive experience in D1 football. Billy doesn’t do this his three year stint will be a failure. Matter of Fact the Bull Gators and the AD should demand it. Talent alone won’t solve the Gators problems. We see the problems, they see the problems, they are in another reality if they think talent will solve it all!
Billy understands recruiting and organization, but he has to let go for a long tenure. Even Saban knows his limitations!

I'm a big believer in the adage:

"Good teams win close games, the best teams don't have close games."

Hopefully winning recruiting battles and fixing the defense yields more blowouts against inferior opponents. But one side of the ball is going to have to be elite if we want to win championships. And I'm sorry, the offense is good, but I don't know if it'll ever be "elite" under Napier.

The M.O. for what Napier wants to do is to win the recruiting battles. If he does, then we can run the ball and win. No one does the 1970s wishbone thing anymore and so passing IS a part, just not the crazy offenses kind.

Um, what exactly has THOSE offenses won of any value to UF athletics?

They got a quarterback that can run a decent office and their defense sucks. Not far from where we were with Trask

Well they don't throw the ball 25 yards sideways to lose 2 yards. So there is that.

More wins than losses! Think Steve Spurier when he played, he gave us a chance, John Reeves lit it up, Danny Wuerfel won it all, even Tim threw it around consistently to win. Anthony has to be consistent every time when we have the ball. We can’t go zero for quarters at a time and wait for the defense and special teams to play winning football, we have to have the pedal to the metal, not banging up the middle with a one score lead, this keeps the other team in the game. That is play calling that keeps them guessing and us consistently moving the ball. High scoring moral victories are bottom feeders. We have been here before. I think Billy is a good recruiter and organizer, his strengths. Offensive and defensive schemer, average. This must be upgraded. say he gets a top five class and we are still the worst defense in the SEC, that will do us in twenty three.
Then he will get an extension going into the 24 season and we get another 7 or 8 wins, the league will be going, What happened to Florida? Let’s not go there, let’s do all we can to get better, recruiting, better coordinators and let’s get the right people n there to get consistent. Spurier reads your comments and shakes his head……
    Truth be told.

We'll see and maybe so but you were one of his biggest detractors on the recruiting board and then disappeared when the recruiting picked up steam. I'm in the wait and see mode myself and that includes keeping the recruiting class together but man I don't get the point of complaining from the onset. And I'm not against constructive criticism as he deserves some but some here are a bit much.

It is reasonable to say currently we don’t know that answer yet to the elite offense yet. We haven’t had the opportunity to evaluate their ability coupled with a defense that gets stops on at least 40% of possessions (forces 3-4) punts/game)

How about we see how good UT is first.

I’ve watched them almost lose three games. Two of them were to barely viable teams.

I like that they basically run XBOX deep plays all game. It’s fun. And teams have cooperated so far.

Once someone makes Hooker throw actual passes a whole game they’ll go down in spectacular fashion. That means two more weeks, I’d say. UGA will likely be able to stop the All Go. Even KY is basically a deep zone team. They could very well be in it to win it late next week.

Kirby is about as slimy as it gets and their O is suspect but you don’t need much to hit 40 on them. And Kirby does know D.

That’s all true but they will probably have the score 40 to beat Tennessee

Basically UT runs cover 2/3 beaters every play. You gotta refuse to play it. Cover 0/1 all day with all others combined for maybe 10 plays situationally. Cover 4 is better than 2/3.

They already can’t run, so I wouldn’t respect it at all. Not respecting the TE’s either. If any combo of those guys can outscore my O, again, hats off.

Heupel basically bets you’ll give in to conventional wisdom and run these “safe” D’s, and it’s a guarantee that the next play is waiting for that convention. Maybe Tillman and Hyatt eat up my DB’s one on one but maybe not. I know for sure they can run under bombs while the secondary over-respects the other options.

But they almost assuredly will. 25-30 is basically baked in. That’s the average among the four big boy teams they’ve played including two outliers both ways (LSU and Bama.)

I doubt anyone just shuts it all down but it’s truly not that difficult to stop 50 with a little strategy. BN did it by refusing to punt. And as we saw, anything better than “historic” D likely wins.

Fairly confident UT will require a punter for both UK and UGA. UK doesn’t have the horses on O to pull it off and Stoops is basically a cover 3 guy although they do it better than most.

Kirby can prolly even pull off a few disguises which most college teams don’t even attempt.

You just have to be careful not to disguise so well that 1/3 of the team doesn’t know what the coverage is, like a certain SEC team does so often…..

But are they really that good? We'll see when they play UGA. They have a great QB who will be gone next year as well as a great receiver. The line does it's job. Defensively, they are not that good. Look at the points we put up...and Bama put up. UT was fortunate enough to just outscore both. They are much improved, but they are not, at least from what I've seen so far, I dominant team. Saban's team should have beaten them, but was uncharacteristically undisciplined. Hell, we came close to beating them. We'll see. I'm not sold yet

Former coach got in trouble for paying recruits right? Must be he got a few good players.
