He can workout on his own. 6 weeks won't matter. Let's any nagging injuries heal. Also being off the team means he doesn't have to follow the 20 hr rule. He can train as much as he wants when he wants.
Maybe he is tired of ball and deems other things more important now. Whatever, best of luck in his future endeavors.
Wow, don’t see this much timing wise. It’s a loss for sure. He will go somewhere and start. Local kid that’s a very good kid. Interesting he got basically no playing time this year after 600 snaps last year.
His own words. His academics to graduate this semester conflict with football. He choosing a long term view rather than short term gains Good luck to him.
He is finishing up his engineering degree. I can relate to this. I rarely saw my wife and kids in my final semester of engineering coursework at UF. I guess he could use the remaining 2 years of eligibility on a master’s degree in engineering, but he may find that an engineering master’s is more stressful than his undergraduate degree.
Makes even more sense now why he is stepping away. Mad respect getting an engineering degree in 3 yrs and playing football.
I say great...IF he was projected to the drafted in the first 2 rounds. Otherwise, he has some baggage he has to overcome, namely he gave up on his team. You think that is going to play with the pros, who have to keep their jobs by selecting quality folks? We shall see.
Won't mean diddly if he can play. We know he is smart and a grinder getting an engineering degree in 3 yrs.
I read it in post 48. You will need to ask that poster for validity. I will Google and see if I can confirm.
He's played 22 plays this year. Think he's going to go pro anytime soon? Spurrier quit Carolina mid-season. You feel the same about what he did?
@tegator80 Found this Joshua Braun, Offensive Guard, Florida Gators - NIL Profile - Opendorse Says he started in mechanical engineering but recently switched to classical studies. Whatever that is.
Um, Spurrier was a damn fine coach who already made a LOT of money. Braun is a wannabe and likely a struggling college student (financially). A XFL team can give a "has-been" coach a chance for more glory (and a paycheck). Less-than-ideal college players who are wanting more are more than a dime a dozen. Braun is setting himself up for failure, unless he is prepared to move on to engineering. And that is fine by me.
Seriously, you're comparing an adult who had a contract with Carolina and made millions with a newlywed college student that has played 22 plays this season and graduates in December? Are you saying because Spurrier already made a lot of money that him quitting his team, guys he recruited and committed to him, is acceptable? You're mighty judgmental, but you cherry pick who you criticize.
I think we are either WAY different in ideas, or we are talking past one another. I am not sure if I care either way. Have a good evening.
I have a minor in Classical Studies. It’s basically history of ancient civilizations. I did it in conjunction with my B.A. in History. I actually really enjoyed Classical Studies classes on ancient Egypt, Rome, Greece, etc… They were some of my favorite courses at UF. I ended up getting an MBA after because I realized if I didn’t go to law school I wasn’t going to make any money.
