I think we should bring in the best anti missile systems we have and tell them "Shoot any more and we blow it up before it gets here." Or better yet, show them. Their lame ass drones should be easy knocked out. I hear they are slow and loud. Pretty much anything not very short range or super sonic I bet could be taken out of the sky with our tech. Would negate their "tactical nuke" option too. "You want us to blow that up over your land? Ok."
I would smarmily point out that any such tactical nuclear weapon would be programmed to not arm until near its target to prevent exactly what you are warning of … but then again every other Russian wonder weapon has vastly disappointed in this war, so maybe their weapons do inadvertently arm when over their own territory. Who knows?
I don't think that Ukraine wants to target Russian civilians. The last thing they want to do is take a chance that the Russian anger from being attacked will turn on them and the Russians decide that they really are in an existential war. As long as they can keep on having so much success against the Russian military, keep doing that. And the Russian civilians will continue to think of Ukrainians as their distant cousins, being attacked by crazy dictator Putin, and they will continue to not support the war. I'm not sure it makes a lot of difference militarily at this point--Russia's capabilities are severely degraded at this point. Fighting by the Geneva convention rules also helps Ukraine look good to the countries supply military aid to them.
Duh. Any country that wants to invade another non-NATO country has to go through the U.S. (or get the U.S. to look the other way) in order to be successful. No country that wants to invade a non-NATO country has to concern itself with Germany. And Germans know this. Germany does not have the ability to invade too many other countries, and has no need to, since the U.S. provides security for most of the world.
